Video Transcript for Front Runner Bully Tools Camp Shovels Review

Hi everyone. Aiden here with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at two different shovel options from Front Runner. One is gonna be this more spade style shovel, and the other is going to have a more rectangular shape with one edge that's slightly sharpened for maybe cutting through some light roots or brush. Regardless though, these are both gonna be great additions to your Front Runner rack, especially if you pair it up with a shovel holder and give you a way to maybe dig yourself out of some sticky situations and get your recovery boards under your tires and just help you get unstuck. Let's check 'em out.

Why get a shovel from Front Runner You probably have a shovel in your garage at home that you use for maybe some work around the yard. I know I do. So why not just use that with your platform here Well, those have much longer handles and both options here are gonna be quite short, which means they don't take up near as much space. Plus, if you plan on using that shovel mount to mount it to the side of your platform like this, it's gonna look nice. And getting the Front Runner branded shovels, you know that it's going to be compatible with that shovel holder.

Whereas if you have a tool at home, who knows, maybe the diameter of a handle's just a little bit smaller or wider and it doesn't fit as nicely. So you get to save some space and then you get to know for sure that it works well up here. And it also leaves a lot more room along the side for other accessories. Front Runner makes plenty of accessories that will bolt onto the side of your platform here. If you're using the slim line too, like we are, something like a recovery track mount would be a great option because it would pair nicely with the shovel mount and you'd probably position this a lot further forward and fit the recovery tracks behind it.

So all your recovery gear is basically just on one side ready to go. The size is also advantageous because it's a little easier to maneuver. So let's say your vehicle's stuck. You've got your recovery boards, but you can't quite get them under the tires, so you need to dig yourself out just a little bit, clear some dirt, clear some sand, whatever it is to make room for that recovery track to get under. Because the shovel has a smaller head here and a shorter handle, it's gonna be a little easier to get here around your tire and get some stuff cleared out as opposed to a full-size household shovel, which is gonna have a bigger head and a longer maybe bulkier handle.

Plus, I really like the D grip handles on both of these because it makes it easier to kind of just shovel some stuff out and it beats using your recovery track to try to move dirt. This is gonna be just a dedicated tool that makes the job easier. Between the two shovel options here today, what's the difference Obviously the shape, this one here is gonna be a little bit more like of a spade style where it's got the pointed end, so maybe a little bit better for digging. And it's gonna be a black powder coated steel, that powder coat. I think it's gonna be really nice because if it does chip away over time, you can just grab a can of spray paint and it'll be looking good as new and it's gonna be welded together. So this one definitely feels like the nicer option here, whereas this one is going to be an epoxy coating still. I think you could probably touch it up with some paint just fine. And it's gonna be a carbon steel construction because this one actually has a slightly sharpened edge for cutting through brush if you needed to. I don't know exactly how well that would work. You might be better off just with something like a large knife, maybe a machete or an ax, but it's still nice that they include something like that and it could work just fine. And then with this one, it's still gonna be welded around the shovel right here, and you've got some bolts going through the handle here. The handle maybe doesn't feel as nice to me because it feels like it's all just multiple pieces, but this handle does have more metal construction, so I think either way you go, it's gonna be fine. At the end of the day though, they're both shovels, they're gonna do the job that you need 'em to, they're built well and they're both about the same size really. I think one of the things that people may not think of is the looks. This is gonna be up there pretty much on all your trips. You're gonna keep it there in case of emergencies, and hopefully those emergencies don't happen. Hopefully you don't get stuck and don't need to dig yourself out. So realistically, how much use are these really gonna see So it's good to have still, but when it's up there just hanging out, waiting to get used, you want it to look good and both of these options are gonna look a lot nicer than a typical shovel aside from just the functional use of not taking up as much space and being good for recovery tracks and things like that. So if nothing else, you know that they're gonna work well with your Front Runner rack and they're gonna look good doing it. But this has just been our quick look at these shovel options from Front Runner. Thanks from watching.
