Hey, everybody. Welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby. And today we're taking a look at Coghlan's magnesium fire starter. So, you guys are looking for a way to always have a fire starter ready in a pinch. This can be a nice little thing just to go ahead and keep as a backpack or your primary use to go ahead and start a fire.
So basically the process for it. We do have a nice little magnesium block here, guys. Let me go ahead and give you guys a closer look at that. And all we have to do is go ahead and take our other side here, take our additional Stryker blade that's with us, shave off some of our magnesium here, giving a nice little pile at our twigs. Everything else we wanna go ahead and use as the base of our fire, and then take the flint included on the other side with our Stryker blade at about a 45 degree angle.
Go ahead and strike it. That way you can go ahead and create that spark you need to go ahead and actually start a fire down. Unfortunately, I can't start a fire right here on my tabletop to give you guys an idea of how it works. But, humans have been using this for millennia, right It's definitely one of those things that takes a little bit of effort and time to kind of get used to it. Really, it is all about that angle and making sure that you guys are doing a good job, keeping that wind down around you as well, to go ahead and make sure you can get a nice start to your spark.
But, honestly, it's gonna be nice for you guys, just to go ahead and have a lot of fires at your disposal that you can go ahead and make, again, excellent to go ahead and make sure that's in your backpack, that you guys are backpacking, that way, if your matches do get wet or soggy, or for some reason, somebody forgets it and your lighter runs out, whatever reason, you have a thing that can start a fire in a pinch, which is excellent. So, I like how it's not too large either. Let's go ahead and give ourselves a little bit of a look here at our dimensions, and going across here today, it looks like our entire block is gonna be right at about three inches for ourselves, that Stryker blade itself is gonna be right about, a little bit under three inches for us as well. Sorry, guys, that was not a good angle for you, let me go ahead and give that one more time. And as you guys can see now, it is gonna be right at about three inches there with our Stryker blade sitting right underneath that as well.
So, definitely it gonna be nice. I could see this blade being a little wonky here, it's just a little small thing. So maybe having another knife as well could be useful. Nice that it's on this chain. I will say it can be a little unwieldy because this chain likes to get in your way, then you find yourself cutting the chains sometimes. So, nice that it's there. I would prefer the secondary and then I just use this block and my other knife, but I love that I always have something that can actually act as a Stryker blade, that way, we're not stranded without no fire. So that's excellent for ourselves. Otherwise, you guys, I think that about does it for our look at the magnesium fire starter from Coghlan's here at etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, thanks for watching..
