Heavy-Duty Tie-Downs

Heavy-duty strength in a lightweight package: the TorkLift Talon tie-downs are the premium choice for heavy truck campers and unforgiving climates. Made of military-grade aluminum alloy, the removable arms are rustproof and robust while also being lightweight and easy to handle. The receiver brackets are constructed of rugged stainless steel, and both components are protected by a high-impact powder coat finish that guards against wear and tear.

A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity is going to sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush to the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not using them and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Talon Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for Review of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Front Tie-Downs Aluminium - TL36CR

Hello neighbors. Welcome back, I'm Steven. Today we're looking at this Torklift Talon Camper Tie Down. It's a custom frame mount application and it is made of aluminum and stainless steel for the front of your Ford Super Duty trucks. So like I just mentioned, this does fit a 2023 two current Ford Super Duty trucks. With that in mind, make sure you're checking out our custom fit guide on etrailer.com's website.

At the center of the top of the page, you can enter your year, make, and model and be sure you're getting the right part the first time. Now these will create an attachment point for securing your camper to the truck bed and they will pair with a set of rear tie downs. The rear tie downs are sold separately, as well as required turn buckles to then attach the camper to these tie downs. The turn buckles are sold separately as well. Now these will help ensure excellent handling by distributing the weight evenly and lowering the center of gravity on the vehicle setup with the camper.

It's gonna help avoid a top heavy setup that would be vulnerable to, like, strong wind, sway. And whenever you're not using 'em, they're gonna remain virtually invisible beneath the vehicle. And you do that by simply taking out the arm pin and then you can simply pull out the arm. Now this arm does have two options, two holes there. Both of these arms are aluminum, so very lightweight, very robust.

You don't have to worry about 'em corroding or getting, you know, moisture and rust and all that over time. Again, you can set it for the closest or farthest away point and then simply put your pin back in to hold it in place whenever you're doing that. And when you're not using it, you can take these custom rubber caps and put that over that hole to keep stuff out of there as well. Now it does go with a whole lot of hardware. I went ahead and left in the bag for this video.

There's just too many different things here to lay out and have space, but you got all kinds of blocks, different spacers, bolts, loft washers, regular washers, nuts, that kind of stuff. You even get these nice fish wires for fishing the bolts through the holes of the truck frame. So again, a very simple design as far as install. You should not have to drill too much, maybe a couple holes, 'cause it's gonna use preexisting holes in your frame already. It is made in the USA, has an amazing lifetime warranty, and as I said, the brackets themselves are stainless steel powder-coated and the fronts are aluminum powder-coated. So this back part here, let me pull one up real quick. This is what's gonna mount against the frame of your truck in the front. So that kind of gives you an idea of what that setup looks like. And I'll put that guy back down here. Now again, you can remove the arms when you're not using 'em and they extend out like I mentioned. And again, they do have a nice finish on 'em. Everything looks really good here from what I've seen. I don't think you're gonna have to worry about rust, that kind of stuff. They do mount pretty tight to your vehicle frame. That way, you have minimal loss of ground clearance, and as I said, you shouldn't have to drill that many holes. You know, a couple maybe to get these installed. So pretty simple install, pretty quick install. You will get a set of instructions included as well. That's always fun to read, right But honestly, read 'em. Make sure you get it put on the first time the right way. We also have videos on our website etrailer.com that you can watch as well far as mounting these on the truck as well. Well, I hope this video has helped you. Hope all the information here has answered any questions you might have had. I'm Steve with etrailer.com. Stay safe out there towing.
