Keeps Camper Stable and Secure

HappiJac Tie-Down Brackets

The HappiJac Direct-to-Frame design ensures proper distribution of your camper's weight and helps prevent your camper from moving in all directions for a safe and secure ride. The front tie-down brackets attach to your truck bed's frame, between the bed and the cab, allowing the tie-downs to become integral parts of your truck. Already, this sets them apart from stake-pocket-mounted tie-downs, which secure the entire load of your camper to the tops of your bed rails, forming a top-heavy setup that can create an uncomfortable and unnatural ride.

HappiJac Tie-Down Setup

An I-beam stabilizing bar (sold separately) installs horizontally between the front brackets to help create a truss-like structure that spans the width of your bed, down to both corners of your bumper, where the rearmost tie-downs install. Holding the camper taut at these 4 corners - as opposed to along the sides of your bed, like you'd find with other tie-down systems - helps to reduce any front-to-back shifting of your camper during travel.

HappiJac Tie-Down Centering Guides

In addition to the Direct-to-Frame design, the included centering guide lock assemblies further help to prevent shifting. Each assembly includes a bumper pad and roller, and they attach to each front tie-down bracket.

Attach the assembly to the bracket so that the roller runs along the side of your camper to help guide the camper into place while you're mounting it. Because the centering guide lock assemblies are positioned at the sides of your camper, they too will help hold your camper in place by inhibiting side-to-side movement.

Anchor Points are Nearly Undetectable

HappiJac Anchor Points

When you're not hauling your camper, you don't have to worry about bulky brackets sticking out of your truck, creating an eyesore or hazard. The front anchor plates remain permanently installed between your cab and truck bed, leaving only the discrete anchor points just behind your cab visible.

The rear tie-downs attach to the corners of your rear bumper. And with a quick quarter-turn, each rear anchor removes from the bracket to create a clean look.

Sturdy Steel Construction

HappiJac Tie Downs

HappiJac components are constructed of sturdy steel for a reliable and stable ride. The powder coated front tie-downs and chrome-plated rear anchors both resist rust and corrosion.

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the HappiJac Custom Tie-Down Kit for your truck bed camper. This kit is going to allow you to equip your Silverado or Sierra to haul your slide-in camper. It's going to provide the tie-down attachment points so you can secure all four corners of your camper. So you're not going to get any side-to-side, front-to-back, or up and down move movement, which is going to allow your camper to ride a lot smoother.

And you're not going to get as much jostling inside the camper itself. This is a custom-fit kit for your 1999 through 2006 Chevy Silverado Classic and your GMC Sierra Classic. I do recommend checking the fit guide on our product page to ensure that it is going to work with your specific package. This is a direct-to-frame bracket system. So your front brackets here, they're going to mount in between your truck bed and your cab directly to the frame of your vehicle, which is going to give it much more stability and you're not going to have as much top heaviness, or it's not going to sway nearly as much. And just being mounted to the frame, it's going to give you greater peace of mind that it's going to hold up well. You do have these centering guides here that are going to prevent the camper from shifting in the truck's bed.

The rear enters here attached to your truck's bumper. And again, give you the third and fourth connection connecting point to make sure that your camper does not move. Your whole kit is going to include your two front anchor plates, your two guide plates here, your two L-brackets, as well as your two rear anchors here. All the mounting hardware you need to get it installed, including the plastic spacer pieces here and the adhesive to get those mounted. It's also going to include instructions to walk you through step-by-step how to get this all installed, make sure that it's done correctly. Now, there are a couple of things that are not included in this kit.

You are not going to get the stabilizing bar that is required for this kit. You can find that here at etrailer.com using part number LC182971. We've gone ahead and pulled that part here so you can see. This is the part that you are going to need, it is a very long stabilizing bar. If you already have this bar, you can obviously purchase this kit and you'll be most of the way to where you need to be.

If you don't have this bar already, like I said, you can purchase it separately or you can get a kit that's going to include all the hardware here and the stabilizing bar, just by combining the two part numbers here at etrailer. So it would be part number LC182906-182971. And that's going to get you everything that you need except the other component, which is not included in this kit, which is your turnbuckles. Your turnbuckles are going to be what holds your camper down to your tie-down locations.HappiJac offers several different options of turnbuckles to make it easy to get your camper tied down and connected securely. We have those options here at etrailer.com as well. I would recommend picking those up because they are going to work with your system better than just a rope or a bungee cord, whatever you might be tempted to use instead of the turnbuckles. They are especially specially designed with springs, interiors, and different things like that, so that they'll work well with your system and it's not going to create too much tension or anything like that. The metal components of our kit are made of steel. So they're going to hold up well, you're not going to have to worry about them breaking down or anything. This kit is made here in the USA, so you can trust that the quality is held to a high standard. And it is going to come with a one-year warranty from HappiJac. So again, give you a greater peace of mind knowing they stand behind their product, you can trust that it's going to be well made and hold up well for you. That's going to complete our look at the HappiJac Custom Tie-Down Kit for your truck-bed camper..

Install was simple enough. It took three and deliveries and multiple emails for all the parts to make it to me. Customer service was great every step of the way. The overarching issue I have is that there was not enough room to mount the anchor plate bracket that goes between the truck bed and the truck cab. The bolt that goes in the bottom inside corner, is practically impossible to install. There is not enough room to manipulate the bolt. I suggest offsetting the bolt location in production for this plate.

  • Which HappiJac Camper Tie Down Set Fits 1994 C/K Long Bed
For your 1994 Chevy C/K that has a long bed, no step boards, and a non-Torklift aftermarket hitch the correct HappiJac tie down set you'd need is the # LC182910-182971.

  • Which HappiJack Tie Downs Fit 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Short Bed
PART IS NLA. QUESTION IS MOOT. DISPROVE POST. HappiJac does offer camper tie downs that fit your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 short bed but the part # LC182906 is not the tie downs you'd need. Instead you'd want the part # LC182908-182928 which is the correct kit that fits your truck. This also comes with a stabilizer bar that is designed to help distribute the camper load between the tie downs. If you didn't want the stabilizer bar you'd just need the # LC182908 instead.
