Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this PTC custom-fit charcoal cabin air filter. Now chances are, if you're looking for a cabin air filter, you already know that it is gonna be important to switch this out pretty frequently, as it can more efficiently do its job. The manufacturer for this one recommends changing the filter every 12,000 to 18,000 miles, or about once a year, but depending on the environment that you live in, if you're in a really dusty environment, you might wanna change it more frequently. But this is going to be a custom fit for several different Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti, year range and models that you can see on the screen there. So if you have any of those Infiniti or Mercedes-Benz vehicles, this will work for you.

It's gonna be very easy to get this installed in place of the current one. Basically, just pull the old filter out, put this one in its place. You can see this does have an airflow indicator on there, so you wanna make sure that you're putting this one in the same orientation as that old one. But this is gonna be a really nice charcoal-treated media particulate that's gonna help filter out over 90% of your outside pollutants, including dust, smoke, bacteria, pollen, mold spores, and harmful gases like carbon monoxide and that sort of thing as they pass through the filter. So that those contaminants aren't being blown into your face, and they're not going to be causing buildups and potential damage in your heating and air conditioning system.

This is manufactured to the 9001, 9002, 9003 and QS9000 certified standards, so it is gonna be a nice quality filter for you to make sure that you're being protected from all those pollutants and particles. For those of you who need a little bit more reassurance that this is gonna work for you, it's an exact replacement for the part numbers that you see on the screen there. So if you're going through your owner's manual or you pull out your current filter and you see any of those numbers, you can trust that this is gonna work for you. So like I said, very easy to get this switched out. Definitely something that you can do yourself.

You don't have to pay a mechanic to do it for you. The next time you go get your oil changed, something that anyone can do, even if you're not very mechanically inclined, just a really simple way to help maintain your vehicle. While the Filter seems acceptable, the [online] video etrailer has on-line showing how to DIY install/replace and access the filter is incomplete and a bad source of how to do it. In it, the information on a simple procedure like removing the glove box to get at the filter housing completely neglects to tell an Acadia owner it is necessary to easily disconnect the left-side of the glove box from the swivel restraint which takes two seconds. That earned the one star review and caused me to finally source other, complete and accurate [online] videos on how to do it.
