Clayton: Hello everybody, Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today, I have a 2012 Ford Edge. We'll be taking a look at and I'll show you how to install a PTC cabin air filter.Our cabin air filter is going to filter that air from our AC unit coming into our cabin. Now, it is a good thing to change this out regularly. Personally, I do mine about every six months. It just kind of helps keep the air not only cleaner for us, but also cleaner for our passengers coming through our air vents.
It's going to make the overall ride quality a lot better, and this is definitely something that you can do at home. There's no reason to take your car somewhere and pay someone to change this.Now, our new filter is a white media particulate with plates. This is going to block 90% of outside pollutants, so dirt, debris, maybe some smells, things like that. Like I said, this is a super easy thing to get installed on our car. I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed.Our cabin air filter is going to be behind our glove box, So it is a good idea to clean out anything you have in your glove box prior to install.
Now, we just want to pinch the sides together like so, and lift it down a little bit, and then right down here on the left side, there's going to be a little catch, that just keeps our glove box from falling. We just want to lift up on our glove box a little bit and push down the square on the outside and then pull that catch off. Then, we can let our glove box hang down.This is going to be our cabin air filter compartment. There is going to be a little tab over here on the left. You simply want to push down on it and kind of pull out.
It is kind of hard to get, so you are going to have to use quite a bit of pressure on that little tab. Once it releases, we want to carefully lift off our cover. Oh, wow. There is quite a bit of dirt on our old filter, so it is definitely time to change it. We do want to make note of which way it's facing when we take it out.As we're taking it out, you can see all this dirt and debris on here, and this is just going to restrict our airflow from our AC unit.
And over time, this could cause an AC failure, which nobody wants because that is an expensive repair. So making this part of your routine maintenance is definitely a good idea. We're now ready to slide our new filter in. Like I said, we want to make sure it's in the same orientation that it was when we took it out. Just going to slide it up like this, push it all the way back. Now we can re-install our cover in the reverse order we took it off.To re-install our glove box, we want to grab our catch, kind of pull it out and then lift our glove box up around it, and we'll slide that catch back into the left side of our glove box just like so. Then, we can pinch our taps together and our glove box is re-installed. That's going to do it for our look and installation of the PTC cabin air filter on our 2012 Ford Edge.

The PTC CABIN FILTER #3705 is a great value. Cost is always a factor when purchasing a disposable product, unless you have a lung disorder. Just keep in mind, it may be a long wait for delivery. Ours took several weeks to arrive ... Slow boat from China??
