Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Ford E-series cutaway motor home, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the WeatherTech Easy-on stone and bug shield deflector, part number WT50187. The reason you're going to want this is if you have a nice, brand-new vehicle such as this motor home right here, you're going to want to hit the road and go travel and explore. As you're driving down the road, rocks and bugs can damage your hood and your windshield. This'll help prevent that. We have a look at our bug deflector/rock deflector from the side. You can see how it follows the profile of our hood, and then curls up like this.
So when a bug or rock comes in, it's going to hit here, hit this, and then go away from our windshield, thus preventing chips and cracks to our windshield and protect our hood as well.And not only is this going to protect our painted hood and our windshield, and help us avoid having costly paint jobs or windshield replacements or repairs, but this is also going to keep our windshield cleaner. So we don't have to worry about our windshield getting quite as dirty as we go on our long road trips. The deflector is made of an aerospace-grade acrylic, which is scratch resistant and virtually unbreakable. The deflector has a nice smoke colored finish, which will blend in nicely with any color paint. It even blends in nicely with our chrome grill.
Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.To begin our install, we have our hood open. There's a few fasteners we didn't remove from our factory weather stripping at the base of the hood. Looking up at the passenger side of our hood, we'll start by removing this first fastener here. Use a trim panel tool and pop it loose. You see that just clips in place.
We'll also do the third one right here. Okay. We've got both of those out right now, and the clips are still in the weather stripping. That's fine. On the driver's side, we'll do the first one again.
This time we'll do the fourth one. Now we'll take the bug shield, and we'll make sure that our flanges here will go underneath our weather stripping as we slide it into position. Our bug shield and rock deflector fits over the hole where a clip was right here, but since this is attached with screws, we'll go ahead and remove these clips. Now we'll take one of our provided screws and a washer. We'll go through our weather stripping, through the bug shield, and into the hood. We'll continue that process at all of our locations.Now that we have our four attachment points done on the center, on the end here there's a piece of double-sided tape on each side. We'll peel back the cover on the tape, now we'll take a self-tapping screw, go through the bug shield and the tape, and secure it to the hood. We'll repeat the same process on the other side. With all of our fasteners now in place under the hood, we can close the hood. Now these are rubber bump-ons. These will prevent the bug shield from making contact with our fender or hood at the ends of it.so these will attach to the fender and the hood right about in these locations. We'll have one at each side of the vehicle. So let's peel it off the paper. We've already cleaned off the surface behind here, push it into place, one on the fender and one on the hood. You can see now it doesn't make any contact with the fender or the hood, so as we drive down the road, the wind comes or we hit bumps, we don't have to worry about that. We'll do the same on the other side.That completes our look at and installation of the WeatherTech Easy-on stone and bug shield deflector, part number WT50487 on this 2017 Ford E-series cutaway motor home.

I purchased this bug deflector for my Jayco Greyhawk motorhome about a year ago and it has held up beautifully. I am sure that without it I would have chips and issues on the motorhome after putting 15k miles on it. Thanks e-trailer for quick shipments and great support.
It fit fine. Only issue was with the first hole on the drivers side. It was either thin or drilled a bit larger as the screw for it would not bite and hold. I used a clip I had on hand for this and it worked fine.

This bug shield was easy to install. The installation instructions were clear and easy to understand. This bug shield has met all my expectations after two summers of Arizona heat & over 10,000 miles.

Its been working out great. Installed on our Ford E-450 Super Duty motorhome. Extremely easy to install and very satisfied with unit.
Put the bug deflector on myself and it hasn’t fallen off yet and it looks good and doing it’s job.
Very nice profile & a perfect fit for my 2011 E350 Super Duty. Came with a few scratches, so we got that outta the way. All screws provided are steel. Really not thinking that the bumpers provided are needed for this application. Time/Miles will tell.

Fit perfectly! Except shipping box need to be stronger. Easy to install and made in the USA.
The fit was spot on, installation was easy, and the products look good after a year of medium duty use.

My only concern is the packaging. I think some kind of paper buffer should be put in the shipping box to prevent the shield from banging around. We all know how rough the UPS carriers are. I received everything in great shape and the installation was super quick. Excellent video on the installation.
Weather Tech products are great fit and finish. Etrailer shipped my bug shield order out quickly and arrived undamaged. This is not my first order from Etrailer. I’ve bookmarked their web page and they are one of my vendors of choice when I need something for our RV.

After a year on the vehicle and a lengthy camping trip last season. The bug deflector still looks like new. I’ll also add I noticed my class C RV drives down the road better. I think because the deflector is causing less wind to build up under the front cap and windshield.
I can't say enough about the customer service. I have a 2018 E-450 RV and very hard to find items for it. I contacted weathertech asking them if they had a bug/rock shield for my vehicle, they could not confirm they had one that would fit. I contacted etrailer and they assured me the same (weathertech) one they had would fit so I ordered it. I didn't open the shipment box until several weeks after the item arrived and when I did the item was damaged. I contacted them and sent a few pictures. They sent me a new one that arrived the next day along with a return receipt for the damaged item. Just awesome service taking care of their customers. I have big $$ items to purchase for the RV (steering stabilizer, front and rear sway bars) that no doubt I will order from etrailer.
Looks and works great! Actually keeps most of the bugs off the windshield of our Class C Motorhome. Drove all the way home to Apple Valley from Idaho with barely any splattered bugs, having driven through La Vegas and CA desert. Just be sure to order the correct Deflector for your SPECIFIC truck body, especially for Ford (i.e. E350, E450, E550) as they differ in hood mold to formed fenders.
I put one on my van just like this about four years ago. A big rock broke a chunk out of it, so I needed to R&R. The rock didn't damage the van at all, the deflector worked great & took the hit. So I simply replaced it with the same one. Very satisfied!
Big fan of these vent covers. Used them on multiple RV's over the years and currently on a trailer. Yes they do impact airflow to some extent, but a fair trade-off for the ability to drive with vents open and no surprises when you forget to close a vent all the way and rain gets in. Pretty easy to install but must take care not to drill too deep into the fan frame (many are plastic) and hit any of the electronics or add an unnecessary hole.
I have been shopping for this deflector for my newly purchased Class C RV that is on an E-450 chassis. Frankly, I had difficulty finding the product where the seller indicated it would fit this vehicle. Your firm confirmed the product would fit...and it did. They purchase price was a fair cost, shipping was free and it arrived within the timeframe indicated. Installation was easy and very simple. I would recommend the product for those looking to accessorize their RV and etrailer should be the supplier of choice.
I was a bit wary that this would fit my truck, but it fit perfectly! I did buy extra dots in case the ones that are supplied slide off from heat or aren’t enough to stop wind vibration against the hood. Install video found online said to predrill holes, but directions sheet didn’t mention it. It was definitely necessary.
The bug shield was ordered for our RV. It is holding up well and was fairly easy to attach. You need two people(or at least we did). One to hold in place, while the other attached with hardware. Fit perfectly.

Great! Holding up just fine and works like it’s supposed to. Really keeps from getting rock chips on the hood.
