Bolt-on surge brake actuator with adjustable channel lets you mount a coupler attachment (sold separately) in 1 of 5 positions to fit your application. Efficient roller design reduces resistance.

Note: Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 3 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.

Hello again, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at our Dexter hydraulic brake actuator for disc brakes with the five-position adjustable channel. This thing is rated at 20,000 pounds. Let's get to it. This hydraulic actuator is gonna activate your trailer's brakes when the tow vehicle slows or stops. The adjustable channel has up to five different mounting positions for any coupler you want to use.
That's gonna be sold separately. You could use like a standard ball coupler, a lunette ring, or maybe even like a club attachment mount to fit your specific application. It does have a unique roller design that reduces resistance during the telescoping to create a straight line movement, so when it's traveling back and forth when you're starting to stop and it's gonna be really smooth. It's made of a durable steel construction. It's gonna resist bending like in jackknife situations, tight turns, that kind of thing.
It does have a nice prime finish in the outer casing, and the inner slide has a nice painted finish. It does come with the breakaway included just for your safety. And it's a bolt-on application as far as mounting it to your trailer frame. It does have these nice integrated grease zerks on the slide bolts so that you can keep them nice and smooth, greased up for long periods of use. Again, it is for disc brakes only.
Again, it's a gross towing weight of 20,000 pounds, a maximum tongue weight of 2,000 pounds, and again, it mounts to a straight three inch wide trailer frame. Does have a one-year warranty. And one thing to note, because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, so when you're backing up, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with three backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes. Well, that's gonna do it today for our look at our Dexter hydraulic brake actuator for disc brakes, five-position adjustable channel rated at 20,000 pounds. I'm Steven, safe towing.
Have a good day.
