Anti-Theft GPS Tracker for Bikes

Galeo Ride GPS tracker for bikes handlebar mount

Better than locating your stolen bike is preventing it from being snatched in the first place. On top of being a reliable GPS tracker, the Galeo Ride comes with several anti-theft features to keep your bike safe.

1. Motion and Bluetooth Proximity Sensor

The tracker will sense whenever the bike shifts, vibrates, or moves out of Bluetooth range, and will send an alert to your phone. If anyone touches your bike, you'll know about it.

2. Anti-Theft Alarm

If the Galeo Ride senses that someone is messing with your bike, it can sound a loud alarm, up to 90 decibels, and scare them off. You can either set off the alarm manually in the app or have it programmed to go off automatically.

3. Tamper-Resistant

The screws provided to mount the tracker to your bike are irregular, deterring a thief from stealing a bike with a tracking device that can't be removed quickly. If they take your bike, they're taking the GPS tracker with it.

Smart Commute

You can use the Smart Commute setting to have the alarms and alerts automatically deactivated while you're within Bluetooth range of the bike, and then reactivated again as soon as you're out of range. This is handy for when you are hanging out near your bike or riding it, and you don't need the alerts or alarms going off.

GPS Tracking Through the App

If your bike ever does get stolen, the Galeo Ride is there to help you track it down. The app will show you the GPS location of your bike and give you directions to it through the default maps app on your phone. 4G LTE ensures your bike is never too far away to locate.

Galeo Ride GPS tracker app

The accuracy of the location will depend on the strength of the signal that the Ride is able to get. A strong signal will show the precise GPS location of the device; if it's unable to get a GPS signal, it will show a wider area based on the cell phone tower that it's pinging.

Rechargeable Battery

Galeo Ride GPS tracker with rechargeable battery

Most GPS trackers have a one-use battery or a battery that will only last a day before needing to be recharged. The Galeo Ride has a rechargeable battery that can last 2 - 3 months between charges, depending on which features you have activated. The app tracks the battery level and will send you a notification when it's getting low.

Project 529

The Galeo Ride also comes with a Project 529 serial number. You can register your bike for free on Project 529's website so that, if your bike is recovered, the police will know who to return it to.

Video Transcript for Galeo Ride Bike GPS Tracking Device Review

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the Galeo Ride. It's gonna be a GPS tracking device that you put on your bike. That way you can keep track of it. So we got the app here on the phone, let's check it out. The GPS tracker is gonna be right here on the handlebar.

They give you the mount and the screws to do that really easy. It's nothing permanent so we don't have to worry about it hurting the handlebar itself. The app is really easy to download on your phone. You can see a closer look, its telling us where we are where the blue dot and where the bike is. And since I'm standing right next to it, we are right there.

You can zoom in. It's nice, it gives you such a detailed map on where you and the bike are. Now there's some features with the app that are pretty nice. So one you can hit the arrow button that zooms it out, to show you where you and the bike are. So just zoom in.

Back where we were. Now you can also use this if it's not centered, hit the center to bring it right there. And then there's an alarm. So you can hit that if you see somebody near it, that's if you're in Bluetooth range And you can sound the alarm. We can stop it.

And then another thing I really like is it can take you exact directions to where your bike is. So if you don't know where it is, if you can hit that it'll open up whatever maps you have in your phone and you get directions exactly where it is. Let's go over a few more things with the app. Down here's an extended menu. We have the name, we just named it "Bike", 'cause that's what we put the GPS on. We have the "Near You" update so it's not live tracking but it'll let you know how long ago it checked in. So right now it's 16 seconds ago, it checked in with the bike. Up here we can see the Bluetooth is connected. I got one bar of service on the phone and the GPS tracker is fully charged. There's some other options down here under the name. We got the alert when it's outta range motion settings on. So that means if somebody was to take this bike and start walking away, I have to get a notification on my phone that hey, your bike's on the move. That means when they leave it where it goes it takes about five minutes to check in again let you know it's stopped. And then it gives you the location of that bike. And you also have the alarm setting for high/low. You also have the "Manage Device". We can go into that. There's extra options in there if you need to mess with the device a little bit more. And then "About Device" just has a little bit more information about the device itself. So if I hit back and leave the bike, you can see the app lets you track multiple devices. So if you have a different version of one of their GPS trackers on the truck like we do, it's all in the same app. So I do like that. I don't want to have a bunch of different apps for different devices. I can just go here, click on the bike and see where that is. Look at the GPS device itself. It doesn't take up that much space on your handlebar. I already have the screws on for the mounting. Also it is waterproof, so you don't have to worry about the elements bothering it. We have a cover here for the USB port. That way you can keep that sealed up so that nothing gets in there. Now I'm gonna show you how to charge it up. You just plug the USB plug that comes with it into the GPS. Now it's gonna take a little bit to charge it up but it is gonna hold a charge that goes from three to four months. You saw we mounted it to the handle bars. You can also put it underneath your seat. So I got the second half of the bracket here. I've run one of the screws in on the other side. I'll get the on the one hand tight come back with a tool that's included. A specialty tool. You see there's a hole in the middle that way you can't just use any Allen key on this to get it loosened up. So it takes this tool to tighten it down or loosen it so you don't have to worry about anybody taking it off on ya. So let's keep going back and forth. Tighten these down evenly to keep it in place. Now if you we're to put it on your handlebars it's ready to fit handlebars of 22.2 millimeters to 25.4 millimeters to 31.8 millimeters. So just keep that in mind with your handlebars. Overall, I think the GPS is a good idea on your bike if that is something you're worried about. As far as the app goes it was really easy to download and use. Even signing up for their subscription service wasn't bad. It didn't take me any time at all to get into the app versus some of the other apps I work with with trucks or trailer GPS where it can take a lot of time and the app's not that great once you get it open. This one gave me a full detailed map. I have an Android, so it was Google Maps, and showed me exactly where the bike was and could even hit the button to give me directions on my phone to go find it. So I thought that was really useful and that's what it's all about is making sure you find your bike if it goes missing. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped.
