Rob: Hey everybody. Rob's here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the PTC Custom Fit Engine Air Filter on our 2012 Toyota Tacoma. Now an engine air filter, obviously it's going to filter the air going into your engine. It's going to make sure that it cleans out any kind of debris, dust, or anything else that's going in there before it gets in the engine. Because if we do have any small particles or anything, not only, one, is it going to diminish our fuel economy, but it can cause a lot of damage.
So making sure that your filter is clean and serviceable will make sure you get the maximum fuel economy and power out of your truck. And I know we've all been in the service center and somebody offers to replace it for you. And a lot of times, you don't think about it. You're just like, "Wow. Yeah, go ahead.
I'm here. Might as well do it."But it's an extremely easy process and there's really no reason to pay anybody to do it because you can do it at home with no tools. In fact, we have our new one here, so we'll go ahead and check our air filter. And if we need to replace it, we can do it. So the first thing you want to do obviously is open up the hood.
We're going to come over to the passenger side, right where our air box is. On the front side of it, we're going to have two clips. Let's go ahead and unlatch those. And then to open the box, you kind of want to grab the front and lift up, and then we can slide it forward. Grab our old filter.
And it definitely could be changed. You can see it is catching some of this larger stuff in there, some leaves or twigs, and it's even changing the color of the filter itself. So just looking at this, you can already tell that the air is not going to be able to flow through as well. So again, since we have our new one, we're going to replace it.Let me just take our new filter and slide it in place. Now you do kind of want to keep in mind, if we look at the very edge of the filter, kind of has more of a square profile on one corner, that's going to be towards the center front. Because the filter will fit in there, but not the best if you don't have it sitting correctly. Also, just a quick tip, when you put your lid back on, you kind of want to get that back kind of sitting in there, and then push the front down and get the latches down. That way, we'll know the back half is latched all the way down. But changing the filter really is just that easy. So again, there's no need to pay anybody to do it when you can do it yourself at home. But again, I'm Rob here at etrailer.com. Website led me to believe that this would work for my vehicle. That was not the case. CS said I could return it but I would have to pay for shipping costs, and sadly it would cost me more in shipping to return it than the item costed. Double check that this is the right one for your vehicle before purchasing as the website may not accurately direct you to the correct one, as it did for me.

In our fitguide you would need to pay close attention to what size engine you have, and one from the down menu. This item is for a 2.7L I4 Engine. If you need one for the 4.0L V6 Engine then that is part # 351PA5578.
This is the correct filter for my vehicle - exactly what I ordered. Delivery took so long that I started to doubt that the order had gone through. I got tired of waiting and bought one locally and installed it. I’ll use this one in the future so it all worked out.
My package arrived in ok condition! Way to much much room to be shaken and be destroyed. Luckily mine arrived ok. Some of the original packaging was dented and deformed do to over sized box! I got lucky!

Looks like good quality, but the car is new and I haven't installed it yet.
I clearly identified my vehicle as a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320. The air filters (3) which you sent me are the right width, but are an inch too long, and are therefore unusable. They cannot be made to fit in the air cleaner compartment. Not acceptable.
