Shane: Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2012 Ford Taurus, and I'm going to walk you through how to install a PTC custom engine air filter. Installing your air filter is going to be very easy, we don't need to take it anywhere and pay somebody to do it. And we can do it at home in the driveway in a couple of minutes. As a matter of fact, you could probably have your kids do it, if your kids we're old enough to get into that type of thing.ere, we have our old filter, which looks like it actually has been recently changed not too long ago, and this is going to be our new one. It's a good idea to change these out every 12-15,000 miles, I like to try to change them, or at least check them when I do an oil change and change them as they recommend.
And also changing my cabin air filter at the same time, try to get in the habit of checking and doing all three at the same time.The filter itself is going to be embossed paper pleats, it's going to be constructed out of them. And what happens is debris will get caught down inside and the filter will keep it from going in the engine. The reason we want to do that is because we want our engine to run a lot better. If we do not change them, what happens is it gets clogged up and it doesn't allow the right amount of airflow to go through.That means our engine is going to run hotter, our acceleration is going to go down and we're going to use more gas mileage. That's why it's always recommended to change them out 12-15,000 miles.
If we flip it over, we're going to have a metal screen on the top. What the screen does, is it keeps the filter from flexing when air is being sucked through it, or pushed through it.Nice rubber seal around the outside, so when we close it in on the box, the box will pinch against this and it'll keep air flow from coming around the air filter and letting any of those contaminants get around it.Now, these are going to be custom fit. They're going to be direct replacements for factory air filters. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's walk through how to get it installed.Start our installation, we need to find our air box, which is going to be right here in front of our battery. Come to the inside, we're going to have two clips.
We're going to pop these two clips. Slide the box or the lid that way, and then lift up. You don't want to pull it too far because we do have some wiring on there and that's where our air filter is going to sit. Go ahead and pull it out. And then we just install our new one right in place...

This is the correct filter for my vehicle - exactly what I ordered. Delivery took so long that I started to doubt that the order had gone through. I got tired of waiting and bought one locally and installed it. I’ll use this one in the future so it all worked out.
My package arrived in ok condition! Way to much much room to be shaken and be destroyed. Luckily mine arrived ok. Some of the original packaging was dented and deformed do to over sized box! I got lucky!

Looks like good quality, but the car is new and I haven't installed it yet.
I clearly identified my vehicle as a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320. The air filters (3) which you sent me are the right width, but are an inch too long, and are therefore unusable. They cannot be made to fit in the air cleaner compartment. Not acceptable.
