How's it going, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2019 Chevrolet, Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at it and showing you how to install the PTC custom fit engine air filter. An air filter is one of those maintenance items, people really don't think too much about until they're at the service station, getting their oil changed, but one of the guys says, hey, we checked it, it's dirty. Do you want us to replace it Well, some people say, no, I don't worry about it. I'll do it myself. And others will just say, go ahead and put anyone in.

When in all reality, this is really easy to do and change yourself. However, if you don't follow through with it a dirty engine air filters can affect your engines, performance and fuel mileage.I told you it was going to be easy to get a new one installed. So, let's go ahead and do that together now. Now, if you come over here to our air box, we're going to have four screws that we need to loosen up. We're going to have one here, here, and two more, just like it over on the other side.

So, I'll go ahead and grab my screwdriver and get those loosened up. And I do want to mention these won't come completely out. You'll kind of feel them break free. You'll be able to kind of pull up and down on them.And right here next to this one, we're loosening right now. This is going to be some wiring that's clipped to the air box.

We can kind of just work that off, just like that. Now at this point what you can do is kind of lift up on the air box. We're going to have to work it towards the center of the vehicle.Sometimes in screws they want to drop back down in there. So, if it's hanging up on you just try to loosen it back up.While we're pushing it towards the center, we're trying to release these three tabs. We can lift it up and pull our old filter out.

Now since our vehicle is pretty much brand new, our filter is nice and clean, but just to give you an idea of how similar the two are, on my left hand here is the factory one and on the right side is the PTC. And you can notice they're pretty much going to be identical. Now, the way you would check and see to figure out if you do need to change your air filter is first by noticing the color. A dirty one will start turning a brownish black and if he come over and kind of look inside of the pleats, you'll notice a bunch of dirt and dust. And if you see that, you know it's time. Now to get your new filter in place, you simply just lift up on your box, give you some room and put it into position.And you do want to be sure to put your filter in the same way that the old one came out or what I mean by that is this isn't a perfect square so this is only going to fit in one way. And then we can go ahead and push our box back towards the center that way we can get our three tabs down here to line up.Once we have it place, you can go ahead and tighten down our screws. As you can see, it was just that easy. So why don't we take a few minutes of your time to set aside.
