Although it is not required that you purchase a wiring harness to use your new Putco halogen lights, it is recommended. The wire used to make this harness has a thicker gauge than the wire in your vehicle's factory harness; the thicker wire is preferred for higher-wattage bulbs. The result is bulbs that burn more brightly with a greater measure of safety - no melted wires and no heat-related damage.

- Upgrading to Brighter Headlights on a 1985 Jeep CJ-7There isn't a wiring harness for the H6024 head lights used on the 1985 Jeep CJ-7. But what you can do is use Vision X Headlight Conversion Kit # VX-7RD with Vision X H4 Halogen Headlight Bulbs # VX-DH4 to get up to 60 percent more light output than the stock lights. Even if you just went with the bulbs and kept the stock assemblies (if just the bulbs can be changed on your assemblies) they will produce more light output that the stock lights.

With this in mind the Putco Heavy-Duty Harness and Relay # P239007HW that you mentioned will work perfectly to provide thicker-gauge wiring for a brighter bulb.
