Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Kuat Piston SR Hitch Adapter. This is going to be this adapter piece that allows you to transform your SR and convert it from just a roof-mounted bike rack to a hitch-mounted bike rack. We're gonna talk about some of its features, if this is gonna be the right fit for your bike rack, right here at etrailer. The first thing is that this hitch adapter is designed to be only used with a Piston SR. That's because the SR has a track underneath it that fits with the T-channel nuts that this hitch adapter uses.

So if you're trying to use this hitch adapter with, let's say, the Piston Pro X, that's not gonna be a fit for you. It's just the SR or the roof-mounted version of the Piston bike rack. Now with that in mind, let's talk about how this changes your SR and increases its capacity. So this used to have just the weight capacity of 67 pounds which is still very impressive, but that was for when this was mounted on your roof or on your ladder rack or using those crossbar mounts. When you use the hitch adapter though, this increases your weight capacity from 67 all the way up to 100 pounds.

Now if you are using this on an RV with a chassis-mounted hitch, that goes back down to 67 pounds, but it's still very impressive. Now having that increased weight capacity is awesome, but you do have some things that are taken away in order to get that capacity. Compared to the Piston Pro X single bike bike rack, this bike rack does not tilt away, and it does not fold up, which could be a not as good thing except it sits very low profile and it's really short. So measuring from the top inside corner of our hitch, the height of your hitch receiver is gonna determine the height of your bike rack. So this adds only 5 inches to that top inside corner.

As for the length, we measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the rack, and that's going to be 18 inches. This does have a lot in common with the other Piston series bike racks. So just like your Piston SR, your hitch adapter is also all metal. It uses the FlatLock hitch cam system, which is something you see on the Kuat Transfer or the Kuat Piston Pro, and that's gonna be the anti-rattle system that is tightened down with your special Allen key. You also have bolts that are similar to what you would see on the roof clamps, and those use another special smaller Allen key.

Now the main thing with this is please don't lose your Allen keys because they have a special cutout on the inside designed to make sure that not just any person can uninstall your bike rack.
