Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this Front Runner LED Light Bar. It's gonna be 40 inches long and offer a mixed beam pattern, which combines a floodlight and a spotlight to give you a focused beam of light directly in front of you on the trails and off to the sides, so you can see where you're going in the dark. Let's check it out. Now, a couple things to note. This is just the light bar that we're looking at today.
We're using this in conjunction with the bracket and lens cover kit from Front Runner, which I think is a really great addition, especially because the brackets that it comes with out of the box are a more universal style bracket, and the hardware that it comes with is far too long to actually bolt into the platform. So this is, again, a more universal installation kit if you didn't have a Front Runner platform. Personally, I'd just cut these bolts shorter myself if I didn't wanna pick up the separate bracket kit, but that's besides the point. I think this kit is going to be a better fit overall for the brackets. Now, in addition to that, you might be wondering about wiring.
This does come with a basic pigtail that gives you positive and negative wires. And if you've already got a switch panel for other off-road lights in your vehicle, then you've already got the infrastructure and you can just extend those wires to where it needs to go for your setup. It's gonna be different for everyone. But if this is the only supplemental light that you're using, then you're gonna wanna pick up the wiring harness from Front Runner. It's gonna give you a couple things, the connector to actually attach to the light bar, it's gonna give you a switch for inside your vehicle to turn it on and off, and then it's going to give you some ring terminals to go to your battery, so that's how you're gonna get your power.
And with the lights off and the light bar firing at the wall, we can hopefully see that mixed beam pattern a little bit better. Right here is gonna be that larger, more concentrated beam of light. That's gonna be our spotlight that are shining further down the road to give us visibility straight ahead. And then, off to the sides is where that beam thins out and becomes quite wide. Obviously, we're inside right now, so we can only go so far, but it goes pretty far back along the wall, so we can tell that that spread is gonna be a lot wider.
That's gonna give us our view off the sides on a trail and just help with the overall visibility around the sides of our vehicle. Now, the light bar is obviously gonna be bright. It's got 40 individual OSRAM LEDs that are gonna combine to give you 8,000 lumens of output. And that's gonna translate to really far visibility ahead of you down the road. Now, the light bar itself is going to have a full aluminum housing, which translates to a really high durability, but it's also gonna dissipate heat really well, because those LEDs will get hot. So really large heat sink on the back will also help with that. And around front, it's got a polycarbonate lens, which should be pretty impact resistant if you happen to catch a rock flying down the road on the highway. But if you don't wanna have to worry about it, that's why I'd recommend this bracket kit we're using, because, again, it's got that cover that'll just flip up whenever it's not in use and give you a solid metal cover. Pretty cool. And then, as far as the weather resistance goes, it's got an IP69K water rating, which just means that it's gonna be really highly resistant to water and dust intrusion. And even if it's a high-powered water jet spraying directly at it, it's gonna be fine. And that's all there is to it. There's a lot of options out there as far as aftermarket lighting is concerned, both on and off our site. I think where this is going to really excel is if you already have that Front Runner platform and you pair it up with the brackets that we're using, because that bracket kit we're using comes with the options to mount it in front of your platform or below or on top of it, so it's giving you two sets of brackets, not just the one that we're using. So there's a lot of options there, it's got the cover built into it, which is gonna protect the light bar. But on its own, the light bar is still, I think, a really excellent fit. It's bright, I like the mixed beam pattern, giving you the best visibility for trails, both ahead and to the sides. And I think it's gonna be a pretty solid option for a light bar on your vehicle. Thanks for watching.
