Video Transcript for Review of Blue Ox 2-1/2 Inch Short Towbar Hitch Connector - BLU73CR

Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Blue Ox short two and a half inch towbar hitch connector. This is gonna replace the hitch connector for your Blue Ox Avail, Apollo or Ascent towbars, including the model numbers that you see on the screen there. Because this is a replacement from Blue Ox, you can trust it is gonna work with your towbar. No worries about compatibility issues or anything like that.

The hardware and instructions to get this installed are included, so you just follow those simple steps to switch out. So whether your original has become damaged, or if you switched hitches and you're needing a a different size tube here, or shank for your receiver, this is gonna slide into your two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receiver. So you can just very simply swap this out and still use your towbar just like normal, just with that different size there. They do include a pin and clip, so you can pass that through, keep that secured in your receiver tube. Another potential application.

Now this is gonna be shorter than the standard connector, and so we measure that length from the end of the bar here. So your overall length of that bar, we're sitting at right about eight and 11 16ths of an inch. So it is about four inches shorter than the standard. And so, if space is an important factor, you're trying to get it a little bit closer to your RV, that will be a great way to accomplish that. And this does have a weight capacity of 15,000 pounds, but of course, with any kind of towing set up, you're only as strong as the weakest component.

So you wanna make sure that you're checking your towbar manual, referring to your hitch, your vehicle, all those different factors. Make sure that you're not exceeding any of those weight limits. But if you are just needing to switch out, either to accommodate a different size hitch, or to get that little bit shorter option, this is gonna be a great way to go. That completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com.

Thanks for watching.
