Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the replacement air spring for an Air Lift 1000. Now these are a durable polyurethane and they hold up to most things, whether it be heat, oil, corrosion, whatever it may be, but with a pressurized system and a vehicle that, who knows, maybe you put a lot of miles on, or a lot of rough miles, after awhile, these maybe degrade or start to lose pressure and it can be the bag itself or the fitting. Either way, to have to buy the whole new kit and have extra parts hanging around isn't always ideal. So to be able to replace just the spring itself and get your system working correctly is a really great option. Now, if you bought these a while ago and you've forgotten the part number, it's very important to use our fit guide to make sure it fits specifically to your vehicle.
So on the website, login year, make and model, and you should have the right part. Or if you bought a vehicle used and it came with the bags and you're replacing them, you can also use the same feature and figure out what you need. For about half the price, you can get your damaged bag replaced, and have it done within less than half an hour. And it's going to be as simple as taking out the old bag, maybe cutting it, using pliers to pull it out. Rolling up your other bag, capping it when it's deflated, pressing it in, and then hooking up your air lines.
If you have the rest of the kit already installed, it should be pretty easy and a quick replacement. These bags are very heavy duty, but sometimes life throws things at you and your car that are unpredictable. I've had metal shrapnel get caught underneath my vehicle. And if caught right, it very well could puncture the bag. Maybe you let you borrow your vehicle to one of your friends, and he decides that he wants to inflate the bags without checking them and maybe over inflates them.
So whether it be user error or just circumstantial driving along, if it does get damaged, you have the option to replace just the damaged bag. So the replacement bag is also included the spacer with it. Now, if your spacer is in good condition, you can go ahead and reuse that, but if you're replacing the bag and you want to put the new one on, you can do that as well. The great part about replacing the damaged bag means that you can reuse all your existing fittings and not have to reroute any air lines or deal with any fittings. To replace your old bag, you can simply cut yours out.
'Cause if you're leaking air, that's not going to be doing any good. So, cutting it with a razor blade or a box cutter carefully, and then using a set of pliers to kind of pull that out will get the old bag out. And to put the new one in is going to be simple. You simply squeeze the bag as much as you can, long ways, and you're going for a hotdog bun shape. So if you have to step on it or use some leverage on your body, go right ahead. Once you have it in a squished position, you can simply put that cap on and that's going to allow us to pinch it through the coils. With my bag in the hot dog form, make sure you feed it in with the barb facing the proper way. With our replacement bag in place, we can now attach our air line up to it and we're good to go. Make sure your spacer still is in place because you will be reusing that. So once you have your replacement bag and the air line reattached to it, and everything's in place, you can simply air it back up, check for leaks and you should be able to hit the road again. Now just be sure when you're replacing your bag and you're going ahead and ordering your new one, it does come in a quantity of one. So if both of your bags have seen better days and you want to replace both, you're going to need to make that a quantity of two to get it back to normal. And that was the look at the replacement air spring for an Air Lift 1000..
