Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2007 Chrylser Aspen

Today on our 2007 Chrysler Aspen, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90195. We'll be installing that in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for brake controllers, part number 3020-P. This brake controller is going to do a really good job of making sure you've got proportional braking to the trailer that's behind you. So however much pressure you apply to the brakes on the vehicle, it's going to give you that same amount of braking power back to the trailer. It will work with trailers that have one to four axles of brakes, so just about any size trailer that you may have, this will work well with is. A lot of our customers like that you can change the screen color, to select whatever you would like. Overall, this brake controller is just going to do a really good job of making sure that, whatever trailer you've got behind you, that you're going to have the braking power that you need. Right now, when we've got this read out right here, that lets us know that it's connected to a trailer, because there's a little image of a truck with a small trailer behind it. Then over here, the up and down buttons will allow us to adjust our gain. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Chrysler Aspen

Today, on our 2008 Chrysler Aspen, we're going to be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90195. In addition to the brake controller installation, we're also going to be using the Curt Universal Wiring Kit for Brake Controllers, part number C51500. Here's what our brake controller looks like installed in our vehicle. Let's go ahead and go over a few of the functions of the brake controller. This lever here on the underside is the main override. You can see when I flip it now, there's currently not a trailer connected. Now, I'll go back and plug a trailer into our 7 way plug at the rear of the vehicle. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Chrysler Aspen 90885

Audio: Today, on this 2008 Chrysler Aspen, we're going to install a brake controller, part# 90885. This is Prodigy P2 brake controller. To help install this brake controller, we're also going to use part# ETBC7. We're going to start with that part number first. Starting at the back of the vehicle, we're going to install the 7-pole bracket that comes with the kit. We're going to mount it to the bumper on the right side of the hitch. Due to the way the 7-pole connector is manufactured with the 4-pole on the side, we'll have a little more working room if we mount it on that side. We're going to go ahead and hold our bracket up to the bumper structure. We'll mark and drill our holes, and then, we'll go ahead and install some self-tapping screws. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2009 Chrysler Aspen

Today on this 2009 Chrysler Aspen we are going to install part number 90885, the Prodigy P2 brake controller. We are also going to use the install kit, part number ETBC7. The first thing we are going to do is install the bracket for the ETBC7 kit. We are going to install it right next to the hitch. And we are actually going to mount the bracket backwards so we can hide the connector a little bit behind the plastic on the bumper cover. The next step is to go ahead and do some partial assembly on the 7-pole itself. What we will do is we will go ahead and add the gray cable and we will hook it up to our 7-pole connector. What we are going to do is actually just wind this up with electric tape and leave our leads out that we need. We will leave our 4-pole sticking out and we are going to need our brake wire which is going to be blue and our black wire for 12 volt power supply. And then we will just wrap up our purple and white wires. Our white wire is going to go directly to the frame for ground. And then the purple wire is going to be for reverse lights, if it is ever needed. 1:01 more
