Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2018 Ford Escape

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Yakima SkyBox NX 16. We're gonna take a look at how it fits our 2018 Ford Escape. If you are looking for a way to add some more cargo space to your Ford Escape, maybe you're going on a long trip and you need to get some stuff out of the way and out of your hatch, or maybe you're carrying around some gear and you want something that still makes it kind of accessible without taking up room in your car. The SkyBox is one of my favorite roof boxes because of its versatility. It can carry all types of gear. It has a good amount of space without sacrificing premium features like locks and being aerodynamic. more

Today on our 2010 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Thule Force XXL rooftop cargo box with 21 cubic feet of space aero skin black in color part number TH626. With the factory roof rack on our Escape, we'll begin our test fit by placing the cargo box up onto to the vehicles cross bars. After positioning the clamps to fit over the bars, we can unlock the box and open the lid exposing the two closest knobs. I'll turn the knob which will tighten on the clamps around the front and back cross bar. Now this double sided opening lid also enables you to easily load and unload your cargo from either side of the car. I'll then move to the other side of the vehicle and repeat the same process. more

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Thule Sonic Medium rooftop cargo box with 13 cubic feet of space, part number TH634B. With our Thule Rapid Crossroads rack system already in place, we'll start our test fit by grabbing our cargo box and placing it onto our roof rack. For this application you'll find it easier to keep the box at a tilt, adjusting your feet to the correct position around your rack bars. Also for this application, we're making sure the box is at its most front position to allow access to the rear hatch. Next we'll open our box and tighten down our feet by turning the gray knobs. One of the great features of this box is that the feet actually click to let you know that they're secure and in place. It's also a great feature that the Thule Sonic also allows access from both sides of the box. With the knobs tight and the feet secure around the bars, we're good to go. more
