Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at how the Swagman E-Spec fits on the 2021 Toyota Highlander. So this is gonna be the updated design for the Swagman E-Spec where you have a higher weight capacity of 80 pounds per bike and you have the ability to use this with the ramp and bridge add-on sold separately. In the case of the Toyota Highlander, because of how high this sits, I actually recommend taking a look at that add-on for your extra heavy electric bikes. So let's talk about things like that. When you look at bike racks, you wanna consider if this gives you access to your hatch, things like that. In the case of the E-Spec, it's a lot more fixed compared to your other bike racks. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we have the Inno Tire Hold HD Dual Wheel Mount Bike Rack, and we're gonna take a look at how it fits on our 2021 Toyota Highlander. So the Tire Hold HD is gonna be your dual wheel mount rack, which means that there's zero frame contact. Plus, something unique to this is its extra high weight capacity of 80 pounds for your bikes. Now, for your total, try not to go over 150 pounds, and then have your heaviest bike towards your Highlander. Now, when focusing on the Highlander though, there are some different things when it comes to the fit, like how this does not tilt down far enough in order to open up your hatch, and depending on your hitch receiver, you may or may not be able to use the anti-rattle bolt. more

It's gonna be able to hold up to two bikes, 70 pounds each, which means it can accommodate those heavier E-bikes. So that's gonna have three strap down points, one on each tire, and it's gonna have this hook on the frame, which unfortunately I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes with. And to take it off is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is kinda start with these straps on the side. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video
All right, Matt with etrailer, and today, we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination Platform Bike Rack on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. I think this is gonna be a good choice if you're just looking for something that's gonna be an entry level bike rack just get your bikes from point A to point B. It's gonna have the capacity to hold two bikes, 35 pounds each, so unfortunately, it won't be able to accommodate your heavier e-bikes, and it's gonna have three tie-down points, one on each tire, using a strap. And we're gonna have a clamp on the frame. So unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes, but it will be able to accommodate some other alternative frame bikes, since this kind of slides up and down and can rotate some. If you wanna get into your hatch, you're gonna have to take the bike off, since this doesn't have a tilt-away feature. more

Kuat Piston Pro 4 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video

Today when gonna talk about the Kuat Piston Pro Bike Rack for four bikes on the 2023 Toyota Highlander I'd definitely recommend this bike rack for anyone who wants a premium bike rack, but either wants to go out with the family, make sure you can haul all four of your bikes, or if you wanna go out with friends and ride your bikes with them. What's nice about it is that it's gonna make two points of contact, one on each tire, so you're gonna be able to haul a lot of carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. And for all four bikes, you can carry up to 40 pounds. Now the nice thing about this rack is it has a tilt-away feature. Now there's a couple pros and cons to it. more

Kuat NV 2-0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hi, Matt with etrailer, and today we're gonna be talking about the Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. Now this is gonna be a solid bike rack if you're looking for something that's gonna be a little bit more versatile and something a little bit more in the premium end. What kind of makes this more versatile is that it's a platform bike rack that can hold up to two bikes, but it can hold bikes up to 60 pounds, so that's gonna be able to accommodate your e-bikes. Another thing that makes it more versatile is where it straps on, it's gonna have two tie-down points, one on the back tire with a strap, and the front one's gonna be a hook that hooks onto your tire. And what's important about that is it's gonna be able to accommodate a lot of different types of bikes, like your carbon frame bikes or a lot of alternative frame bikes. Another nice feature is it's ability to tilt away and to do that is pretty easy. more

Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination E bike rack on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. I think this is gonna be a solid choice for the Highlander if you're look to haul any heavy E-bikes, and that's because this carrier can carry up to 70 pounds per bike holding up the two of them, and it's gonna have a lot of strap down points. It's gonna have two on the front, one on the back tire, and it's gonna have this very sturdy clamp on our frame. Now unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes because that clamp might damage the frame some. What I do like about this clamp though, is it can adjust on this center mast so it'll be able to accommodate a lot of different or alternative frames. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Yakima RidgeBack bike rack for four bikes on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. Now I think this would be a great value option if you're looking for anything that's gonna be a hanging style that can carry up to four bikes. Especially if you're kind of going out with the family or you're going out with friends, it would be an easy way to kind of take all those bikes with you. Now, I wouldn't recommend taking any bikes that are carbon frame since we're gonna have three points of contact, and those contact points are gonna be on our frame. Now if you have any alternative frame bikes, I'd recommend probably getting a bike adapter bar just so you can adapt to those bikes being on there. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hi, Matt with etrailer and today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination four bike rack on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. This is gonna be a very versatile entry-level bike rack if you wanna haul four bikes. This is gonna have a maximum capacity of 35 pounds per bike and it's gonna have three strap down points. One's gonna be on each tire and the third one is gonna be attached to your frame. So since it is making frame contact we don't recommend any carbon frame bikes but since this is adjustable too, it's gonna be great if you wanna try to accommodate a lot of alternative frame bikes. Since this is an entry level bike rack, It doesn't have a tilt away feature but something I do like about how it interacts with the Highlander is we still have a lot of clearance in between the back of our vehicle and our bike. more

This is gonna be a hanging bike rack that's gonna be able to hold up to five bikes. And it's gonna be at a very affordable price for the amount of bikes it can hold. Something to keep in mind. It can hold each bike up to 40 pounds each, but it does have a max capacity of 150 pounds so I'd try not to exceed either one of those numbers. more

Now, this is gonna be a great choice if you go riding with a bunch of friends and need to haul those heavier like e-bikes, since it can haul four bikes up to 50 pounds each. First impression of the rack on the back of a Highlander, it's big but that's because this can carry up to three bikes. If you need to carry more, there's a four bike version available and if you need to carry less, there's a two and a one bike. So, you kind of got all your bases covered there. But with that in mind, it looks like it fits pretty good. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris MHS Platform-Style Bike Rack here on our 2022 Toyota Highlander. Now, this style of bike rack is becoming more and more popular where you've got a long tray and these two wheel hoops that are holding the bike in place. And this one actually does a really good job of holding it, partially because we've got secondary points of contact at the back wheel with this wheel strap and with this block right here that kinda wedges against the front wheel, and that's gonna keep that movement in the front wheel down to a minimum. Some other racks of this style do have a bit more bike movement, they hold them well, but for some people, that peace of mind, myself included, of seeing your bike staying still on the rack is really nice, so that's a big plus for this rack. Something else you have is the ability to tilt it away with the bikes loaded. more

So for this bike rack, it is really popular, because of its versatility where you get the premium features like tilt away and the 60 pound per bike weight capacity at a slightly more affordable price than the other premium bike racks. It's still a solid bike rack though, and I recommend it almost every single time. With the Highlander, there are some things to consider, like the Highlander's hitch does sit a little bit higher up, so you are having to lift your bikes a bit more to get them onto the rack. It's gonna be a platform style bike rack, that means it's gonna hold the bike by the frame, so it does have this hook that comes down along the frame. Makes contact there, but it is padded, so you don't have to worry about it damaging the frame at all, I still wouldn't recommend putting carbon fiber bikes on there, but all the other bikes should be just fine. Let's take a second to look at how it sits on the back of the vehicle. It doesn't look like it's gonna cover up the taillights too bad, the tires cover up a small portion, you can still see it above there. more

AJ What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out the Kuat NV 2.0 on our 2022 Toyota Highlander. So we have a platform style bike rack which means the bike's gonna sit on this platform. It holds it by the tire up front and there's a strap on the back tire helping hold the bike steady and in place, which since it doesn't make any frame contact, really opens it up for all the different style bikes it can actually hold. So you don't have to worry about putting a carbon fiber bike on here because it's not going to make contact, so no damage done. One of the nice features is that you can tilt away the bike rack with the bike on there. more

Now, this bike rack can hold two bikes, and it's gonna hold it at the pivoting wheel cradle at the back here, and at this wheel hook on the front, which means zero frame contact. That's gonna make it good for our carbon frame bikes, our alternative frame bikes, and with a 40 pound capacity, you're not gonna want to work with any sort of e-bikes probably, so just watch out for that. Now, this does have the option to tilt away with the bikes loaded and to do that, I'm actually gonna pull this other arm up just to give me easy access to the foot pedal here. It's a really unique way of tilting down. more

I like that these two clamps operate independently of each other. So if we have to set them at the exact same height, we can because they're completely independent, they can go up, down, rotate 360 degrees and adjust to fit your bikes. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Yakima Ridgeback 4 bike rack here on a 2021 Toyota Highlander. So the Ridgeback is known as a hanging style bike rack and there's two main types. Hanging style and we have the platform style. Now the hanging style are great because they're typically more cost effective than the platform style. And they're also typically a little bit lighter weight so they're easier to get on and off the vehicle. The platform style however, they're gonna be easier to load your bikes onto because you don't have to lift as high and they can carry some heavier bikes. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020, Toyota Highlander, we'll be checking out the Swagman XC2, platform-style bike rack. First impression of the rack in the back of our Highlander, I think it looks super simple and it's pretty compact, don't take up a bunch of space. So honestly, if I was someone who just rode every now and again, this will probably be a pretty good choice, you know, it stores up very compact don't take up a whole lot of space when you're keeping it in your garage or whatever. So, it's a efficient way to get your bikes to and from the trails. With that said though, it is gonna hold up to a total of two bikes, and the way it's gonna do it is by using this frame hook here. more
