Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2017 Audi Q5, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CURT trailer hitch receiver. Many Q5 owners use their SUVs to do a little bit of everything. Whether it's a little bit of towing, maybe using a cargo carrier while you're on a road trip with the family, or even a bike rack to hit the trails with a few friends, this hitch is going to be a great solution for you to be able to enjoy the activities.Now for the most part, the hitch is pretty visible. However, it is tucked back quite a ways underneath the bumper, and so it is going to blend in, especially when it's on the ground. Now since it does set a little bit further back, something you're going to want to keep in mind is your clearance from your bumper here, especially if you plan on using those folding accessories.Now this is a Class III hitch, so we're going to have that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. more

Now, even though the hitch does sit further back, the receiver tube opening is actually going to give us some pretty good clearance. It's just going to sit right behind our plastic bumper and that's going to work perfectly for those folding accessories like bike racks. This is a class 1 hitch, so it's going to have that inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening. And it's also going to have a reinforced collar for extra strength. more

So we're going to have the widest variety of accessories that we can put in here.If we need to make a little bit more room, we could put a cargo carrier in. Speaker 2: Today in this 2017 Audi SQ5, we will be having a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class 111 Trailer Hitch receiver, part number 75940.Here's what our hitch looks like installed. First thing you'll notice about this hitch is that it's designed to work inside the factory cutout in the bumper, and it does that nicely with no trimming or modification required, so it does give us a nice clean look. Many of our customers on our website has said they've purchased this hitch for their Q5 or their SQ5 in order to use it with bike racks and cargo carriers, and they've all said it has worked great for them, with plenty of clearance around the fascia, and it allows them bring all their gear with them when they go on the road.One of the questions that we do get on our website is, if the vehicle is equipped with backup sensors like this one, is that with the bike rack installed on the hitch, will the backup sensors be activated And the answer is yes, but that's only when you have the vehicle in reverse, and that's because the bike rack will be right in front of the sensor and it's going to set up the proximity warning. But when you're driving down the road, going straight in drive, you don't have to worry, there'll be no beeps or warnings or any alert messages on the dash. Everything will be just like normal.On the side of our receiver, you'll find two pin holes, the larger one closest to the front, that's your industry standard 5/8" diameter hitch pin hole for use with a pin and clip to secure your hitch mounted accessories. Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2013 Audi Q5. Up top we've got the CURT, part number C13136. Then on bottom we've got the Draw-Tite, part number 75940. The first obvious difference between these two hitches is that, as you can see, they look very different from each other. Although they look very different and mount up differently, they're going to come out in about the same position on the vehicle. On the CURT, when it's mounted on the vehicle, you are going to be able to see this crosstube a little bit but it's also tucked back underneath the vehicle far enough that it's not going to be very noticeable. You should have enough room with most of your class three accessories without having to worry about them hitting the rear of your vehicle. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Audi Q7- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Audi Q7, we'll be having a look at and installing the Curt Class III trailer hitch receiver, part number 13220.All right, here's what our hitch looks like installed. You'll notice that it sits inside the pocket where our factory hitch would be, if it was equipped with one, and you can trim out the panel here, what covers up where the factory hitch would be, to fit around it nicely. Give us a nice, clean look, and almost looks like a factory hitch. On the side of the receiver you'll find our industry standard five eighths of an inch diameter hitch pin hole to secure any of our hitch mounted accessories that we may have. At the end of our receiver, near this nice welded on collar to help improve the looks of it, give it more of a finished look, and help increase the strength and durability of the receiver itself. The crossbar is gonna tuck up behind the bumper nicely, and all we're really gonna see is the receiver tube sticking out, so it's not gonna take away from our Audi. Now, it is a Class I hitch, which means it's gonna give us that 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" receiver tube opening, which is gonna be great for a lot of different accessories like cargo carriers or bike racks. Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Audi Q5, we're gonna be taking a look at showing you how to install the Curt custom-fit class-three trailer hitch receiver, part number C13331.Here's what our hitch looks like fully installed. What I really like about this is the cross tube's gonna be completely hidden and all we're gonna see is the receiver tube sticking out, so it's not gonna take away from the looks of our Audi. It is a class three hitch, which means it's gonna give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, and as we can see it has a nice reinforced collar, not only giving it added strength, but a nice finished look.Now right here, we're gonna have our hitch pinhole and it's gonna use a standard 5/8 pinning clip. Now, it doesn't come with one but you can pick one up on our website using part number PC3 and as we can see, on both sides we're gonna have plenty of room whether you use a standard pin and clip or if you choose to get a locking pin and clip or even an anti-rattle device.So the safety chain connection points, it's gonna be a loop style welded to the bottom, and as you can see we're not gonna have any trouble getting most sized hooks on or off since there's plenty of room in here.Our hitch is gonna have a 750 pound tongue weight, along with a 5000 pound gross trailer weight rating. Now I do want to mention, you always want to double check the owner's manual of your Q5 to make sure you don't exceed the rating of your car.Now I'd like to give you a few measurements to help you in decided for accessories for your new hitch, such as a ball mount, bike rack, or even a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the bumper, it's gonna be right about two and a half inches. more

Besides that, our Curt hitch here if we're using it for a non-trailer application, such as a bike-rack or a cargo carrier, it does require the use of a stabilization strap to help support the load. more

Today on our 2011 Audi A4, we'll be installing the Curt Class One Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C11186. I like the fact that this hitch is hidden behind the bumper cover, nice all the way across. Because this being an Audi, and being a high end vehicle, if you're going to install a hitch on it, you want to have a good look, and a nice appearance, and not have something that's hanging below your vehicle, and is an eyesore. This hitch has a nice high gloss black powder coat finish, so it's stylish, and will give use many years of corrosion and rust free service. Our safety chain loops are right here, underneath the receiver. You can see there are nice big openings here, so we won't have any problem hooking a safety chain around it at all, in any location. We have our standard half inch diameter hitch pin hole here. This hitch does come with an included hitch pin and clip, so you don't have to worry about purchasing one. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Audi Q5 - Draw-Tite- Video

Today on our 2016 Audi Q5 we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 75940. All right, here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it's very well hidden behind our factory bumper cover here. Tucks up nicely behind it. The one part really hanging down is the class III receiver with the 2 by 2 inch opening, and then our safety chain loops right here are also hanging down. I like the fact that our safety chain loops here are behind our hitch pins and below the receiver, because if you have a large locking device to secure your ball mount, sometimes if your safety chain loops are in this area here your hitch pin covers it up, and it makes it more difficult to attach your safety chain loops. When they're in this location here, it is easier for you to use. more

The first obvious difference between these two hitches is that as you can see they look very different from each other. Although they look very different and mount up different they're going to come out in about the same position on the vehicle. On the Curt when it's mounted on the vehicle you are going to be able to see this cross tube a little bit but it's also tucked back underneath the vehicle far enough that it's not going to be very noticeable. You should have enough room with most of your class 3 accessories without having to worry about them hitting the rear of your vehicle. Down here on the Draw-Tite you're only going to see from about here down, so you're really just going to see the receiver tube and the safety chain connection points. Another noticeable difference between these two hitches is the safety chain connection points. On the Curt it's got this flat steel plate on the bottom, it's got these large wholes that are cut out. Down here on the Draw-Tite it's got these two verticle steel plates on either side that are part of the reinforcement brace that goes up to that cross-tube. more

Today on this 2011 Audi Q5, we're going to show you the Curt Class III two-inch receiver hitch, part number C13136. All right, this is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on our Audi Q5. First off, you can see the round tube body assembly and the receiver hitch. Now, it sits underneath the bumper cover here because the structure for the bumper is right above this, okay, so we really we have not much room for it. Okay Here's a two-inch opening here. It's got a nice rounded collar for reinforcement, and it uses a five-inch hitch pin in this hole right here or your favorite locking pin. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Audi A4 - Curt- Video

Today on our 2003 Audi A4 we're going to be installing the CURT hitch, part number 11164. To begin our install we'll first go ahead and open up the trunk, remove the spare tire cover, and anything in the spare tire well. Next we're going to take our hitch, we'll line up the pre-drilled hole in the crossbar above the manufacturer's tow hook. We'll slide it into position, keeping it level and square with the vehicle, then install the manufacturer's 7/16 bolt and spacer block and securing it on top with the 7/16 split lock washer and a 7/16 nut. We'll need to push back the lower bumper fascia a little bit to gain access to it. Now with our hardware in place finger tight I'm just going to use a socket and ratchet along with a wrench to snug it up so that I can adjust the hitch as necessary, again, making sure that we're square and level, then securely tighten it down. Now that we've got our hitch secured in place we'll go ahead and use the hitch as a template to drill out the four attachment points, two on each side, that will go through the hitch into the spare tire well. more

Next we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements to go ahead and assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is 6". From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 11-3/4". This will assist you selecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack or a cargo carrier. Now let's go ahead with installation. Now, we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is approximately 6 inches. From the top of the opening and the receiver to the ground is approximately 12 inches. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Audi A3 - Curt- Video

Today in our 2012 Audi A3, we're going to install Part # 11192 from Curt. First step is to remove the rear bumper. Now the four torque screws you have to remove at each side of the wheel well. Were done with the driver side, repeat the same process on the passenger side then we will remove both taillights, now the fastener on the inside that we have to loosen up so we can take apart the taillights. If you remove both taillights by using a socket through a port on the inside of the trunk, we'll rotate the lights out so it taps on the backside stand tap. We'll rotate them; pull straight out from the side to remove the lens. more
