Malone Roof Rack Review - 2016 GMC Terrain

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 GMC Terrain, we're going to be taking a look at the Malone SteelTop Roof Rack system, and that's going to be part number MPG202.As you can see, we have the front bar installed, so let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. Our square bars that we have on top are going to be 58" long. They also come in other lengths. You could check our website for those different lengths. They do have a square bar, so you are going to have some type of wind noise and drag while you're traveling. However, you can purchase a fairing that will act as a wind deflector and kind of sweep it right over the bar to make it more aerodynamic, and cut down on that wind noise and drag. The square bars have a nice rigid system up top that's going to help keep your accessories in place and not be able to slide at all on your roof rack. more

These come in 50" with part number MPG201, 58" with part number MPG202, and 65" with part number MPG 203. What I really like about this Malone Roof Rack System is that it's an entry level system that comes with almost all the bells and whistles. It has integrated locking included with metal locks, and they're all keyed alike, and it comes with two keys.Additionally, it has a nice high weight rating, and it's one of the quickest and easiest to install. You just set it up in place over your side rails, and tighten it down with the included tool. This is gonna be a great way to get cargo out of your vehicle and up on your roof, allowing for more passengers in the vehicle. more

Yakima Roof Rack Review - 2015 GMC Acadia

Speaker 1: Today in our 2015 GMS Acadia, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima JetStream roof rack system, consisting of part numbers Y00425. These are the JetStream crossbars, 50 inches long. These also come in silver if you like. We'll also be using part number Y00147 and these are the TimberLine towers, specifically designed to go around your factory raised side rails. This is a great roof rack system because you can carry a wide variety of accessories on your roof while freeing up space inside your Acadia. This can carry anything from bike racks to cargo baskets to cargo boxes with ease. And also, if we remove our end cap here, you can also utilize T-track accessories with this as well. And what sets this apart from the other roof rack systems out there, normally you would have to remove the center strip, cut it to length, put the accessory in place, then put the strip back around it. With this, you simply push down the strip in the center here and slide your T-track accessory in, not having to cut anything. These do have nice aerodynamic shape to them and that, coupled with that strip at the top, as well as the strip that you cut to length underneath, will cut down the wind noise and drag while you drive virtually eliminating the need for any aftermarket fairings like you would have to get with square or round bars. How it wraps around here it goes around nice and tight around your existing factory raised side rail and tightens down. more

Best 2018 GMC Acadia Roof Rack Options

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best flush-mount roof rack options for our 2018 GMC Acadia. We have the Thule AeroBlade Edge, the Yakima RailBar, and the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar. We have all three of these installed on our factory raised side rails you can see here, and these can carry a wide variety of accessories such as bike racks, cargo baskets, and cargo boxes. We're going to go over some of the differences between these three. The biggest difference between these three is going to be how they actually mount up onto your factory raised side rails. With both the AeroBlade Edge and the StealthBar, it's going to have a rubber-coated steel strap that wraps around underneath and gets attached above and tightened down with an included tool. With the Yakima, it clamps around the factory raised side rails and tightens into place using the integrated Allen key that you can carry with you while you travel.Bearing all that in mind, the easiest to install out of these three is going to be the Yakima RailBar. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Terrain, we're going to be doing a test for the Yakima CoreBar TimberLine Tower Roof Rack System, using part numbers Y00421 and Y00147.The Yakima CoreBars let you build an aerodynamic, heavy-duty roof rack system on your GM Terrain. This roof rack system's going to allow you to carry roof mounted bike racks, cargo boxes, baskets, and much more. Compared to round or square bars, the teardrop shape is going to allow you to control air flow to significantly decrease wind noise and vibration. The CoreBars are made out of a heavy-duty steel construction, which enables them to carry more weight than traditional roof rack systems. That's up to 220 pounds, so you'll want to be sure and check with your GMC's owners manual to see if your roof can support that much. The CoreBars are attacked to the TimberLine Towers, which allow them to be attached to your raised rails. They secure with a steel strap that's rubber coated so it won't harm or scratch your raised rails. Each TimberLine Tower can be locked to further secure it to your GMC. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 GMC Acadia, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima RailBar Crossbar Roof Rack System, silver in color, and this is going to be part number Y00432-0433. This also comes in black as part number Y00447-0448.The Yakima RailBar Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof while maintaining that factory look to it once they're installed. Can carry anything from bike racks to cargo baskets to cargo boxes. It has an aerodynamic shape to the bar and that coupled with this rubber strip up at the tip, that's going to cut down the wind noise and drag while you drive. However, a disadvantage would be that because it's cut off at certain points on either side, that is the only amount of space you're going to have to install your accessories. Otherwise, you need to get a bar that goes past, so you'd have to pretty much upgrade to a different style of roof rack system.Removing our end cap here, as opposed to other roof rack systems where you would actually have to remove the rubber strip to install T-Track accessories, with this, all you have to do is push down the strip and push the T-Track accessories in, not having to make any alterations to the rubber strip itself. more

It also maintains that factory look with how it's installed. The bars have an elliptical shape to them, and that coupled with the Vortex Aero Strip up at the top is going to cut that wind noise and drag while you drive. Now, a downside to this is the bars don't go past the factory raised side rail, so you are limited to how many accessories you can put on the top here. Removing the end cap here, you do see that you can use T-track accessories with this roof rack system by just taking out the strip, sliding your accessories in and then cutting the strip to length and replacing it around them.Notice these openings on the side here. That's for the lock cores that come with the kit as well. We left them out for demonstration purposes, as it's more of a permanent install. How this attaches to your factory raised side rails, we have these rubber-coated steel strips here that wrap around it and then get tightened down with this bolt here. more

Now this, combined with the other bar that we have, will have a carrying capacity of 220 pounds, although you want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your car can withstand that kind of weight on its roof. Let's go ahead and show you how they install, or let's go ahead and show you how the rear one installs, excuse me. We already have it partially assembled on our table here. more

In the case of your Terrain, you'll want the foot pack to be as far forward as possible. We'll take a quick look to check our bar, be sure we have it spaced evenly on both sides, then we'll remove the included tool located in the foot pack and tighten down the Allen bolt on each side. With both sides secure, we'll replace the tool on our foot pack and we can move to the rear. more
