Adding a brake controller to your vehicle is gonna allow you to control the brakes on your trailer when you're towing. Having a wireless setup like this is gonna allow you to use it between multiple vehicles. So say you have one trailer, multiple trucks, and you split the work between job sites. You'll be able to leave the brake controller with the trailer, and whatever truck with a seven-way plugin is gonna be able to have a brake controller built into it. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about the Hayes Synchronizer Trailer Brake Controller on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. So what a brake controller does is when you press down on your brakes in your vehicle, this is gonna send a signal all the way back to your trailer that has electric brakes on it, then press its brakes. Now, today, we have a time delayed one, so that's not gonna be like our proportional brake controllers. How it differs is a proportional brake controller, when you press down on the brakes, if you press down hard, it's gonna press down hard on your trailer's, and if you press down light, it's gonna press down light on your trailer brakes. While this is gonna work a little bit differently, and it's not gonna provide you as smooth of a ride. more

And what's nice is this is gonna be a proportional one so however hard you push on the brakes is gonna send that same amount of force to your trailer. With this particular brake controller we have today, it's gonna be able to handle up to one to four axles. more

Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer and today I'm gonna be showing you how to install the Tucson DirecLink Trailer Brake Controller here on our 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500. Up top here you can see it's going to revert back to our brake sensitivity and there's gonna be 20 different sensitivity levels, depending on if your trailer is above or below 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating, so you can easily adjust that up and down. (button beeping) And then also we can go to the side here and that's gonna give us our low speed brake. So essentially if you're going at a low speed, you don't have to worry about the brakes fully actuating. This is basically just gonna kind of get you a more smoother braking power whenever you're driving through the city or maybe you're hitting a whole lot of stop lights and you don't really wanna have it slam on the brakes every single time, you can adjust this, get a little bit lower, and then we also have our max brake limit. And so right now I got that just said at 20%, but obviously you could change that as well. more

And one of the big differences you're gonna notice here between a traditional brake controller is this is all the footprint that we've got here in our vehicle. Unlike those big boxes that hang down underneath where you're potentially and your legs on it, they're harder to see, harder to activate the manual slide, you get the opportunity to mount this in a much more discreet location. This is a proportional brake controller so the inertia sensor inside will detect vehicle movement. So if you ever slam on the brake show your body like kind of slams forward the inertia sensor detects that, and it knows that it's your vehicle is slowing down based on that. And it uses that along with your adjustment controls to give you the best breaking performance at the back. Instructor Hi there, Colorado owners. Today on your 2022 Chevrolet Colorado we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's P3 proportional trailer brake controller. What's nice about these proportional brake controllers is you get a much more natural braking, 'cuz when you hit the brake pedal it detects that your vehicle is, it can feel that move in, and then the slowing down movement. The inertia sensor detects that and it uses that to determine how intense to apply the brakes to help match your vehicle. You do still have your options for setting your power. We've got a maximum being 14, and then you can go all the way down with it. more

With most traditional brake controllers, you have to drill into the bottom of your dash and then you have this bulky controller that you're gonna hit your knees on getting in and out of your truck here. With the Echo Under-Dash, everything is gonna be installed behind the dash there. There's no drilling into the dash whatsoever and you're not gonna be sacrificing your leg room. more

Hey, everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller here on a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. So, this is what our brake controller looks like installed. Now, this may be a little bit different than what you're normally used to for brake controllers, because this particular unit actually installs in between the trailer connector on the vehicle and the trailer connector for the trailer. So, most other brake controllers are gonna have a physical device mounted in your dash, which is definitely gonna take up some leg room, and it also requires drilling. The Curt Echo, however, is gonna be a nice, neat, contained package which installs in line between your trailer connectors. So, I would say, aside for instances where you're towing every day, the Curt Echo is gonna be a great brake controller for you. more

Today on our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the red arc tow pro elite proportional trailer brake controller for one to three axles, now to help us in our installation, We're going to be using the universal mounting panel for our red arc tow pro brake controller, remote head. And that's going to be part number 331-TPSI-001 So here's where our tow pro elite brake controller looks like once we have it installed it's going to be an extremely compact unit. And all we're going to see is the knob with the led light right here. This is going to be a great solution to the traditional style brake controller which typically do take up a decent amount of space and they do get kind of cumbersome where they may interfere with your legs while you're driving. Now, you'll notice that we have a blue led indicator light that's on right by our knob. And that's going to let us know that our trailer is connected but when we don't have a trailer connected there's not going to be a light on at all. more

Hey, everybody. How's it going Today, we gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller here on our 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 So the first step of our installation. We`re gonna take our brake controller we`re gonna come to the rear of our pick-up here find your trailer connector we`re gonna flip open the lid for the seven way portion we`ll make sure the tab on our brake controller is facing up, and then we can simply insert it into the trailer connector pushing it down to make sure it is secure And if the brake control has power, we should see a flashing blue light that lets us know that we don't have a trailer connected I`ll also like to point out that on the particular model you receive you`re going to get a stability strap your safety strap, whatever you want to call it. It basically is just an extra measure of security it wraps around the brake controller and lid on our seven way to give you a little bit of a tighter fit. So now with our brake controller plugged in we`re just gonna grab the seven way on our trailer open the lid on the brake controller and we`ll just press that in there nice and firmly and if everything was done correctly and it recognizes the trailer, we should see a flashing green light. So once we have our trailer plugged in we`re gonna come back inside the vehicle here and you`ll first need to download the Curt Echo App. more

Now this is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. It mounts underneath our dash and it has a quick release bracket, so you can quickly remove it if you. Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2020 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller. The main thing that really separates this brake controller from many of the traditional style brake controllers like this is a couple of things. One, it's going to be really small and two, you're going to be able to pretty much mount this anywhere that you want and on a lot of today's newer modern vehicles, that dash space is really limited and can be really challenging to find a good spot to mount a brake controller like this that's out of the way, but yet still easy to use.There are other brake controllers that are similar in the design of this one and most of our customers specifically compare this one to the Redarc. I personally like this one a little bit better than the Redarc and that's because behind our knob here, there's going to be nothing behind it as compared to the Redarc, behind the knob, there's going to be a connector that comes out quite a ways. So, you're still somewhat limited on where you can mount that Redarc because you're going to have to have room behind the panel for that connector to fit. more

So now when we're going down the highway or driving down the road, all that weight from the trailer is pushing forward that's where our brake controller is going to help. Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 we're going to be installing Tekonsha's PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller. And with this we'll be using Tekonsha's plug in wiring adapter. This is an entry level time delay trailer brake controller. It's going to provide a trailer brake signal, back to the trailer brakes on your trailer to allow them to stop. There is an adjustment knob here that will you to allow you to adjust how harsh the brakes apply and you can see that here on the LED display if you push over the manual slider. You'll see with the manual slider all the way over if I have it fully down, it's red which is the most apply and if I back it off, we go from orange to green, which is minimal to no apply.The manual slider can also be used for a few scenarios. more

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be installing Draw-Tite's Activator Trailer Brake Controller and we'll be using the plug-in wiring adaptor along with it. This time delayed brake controller is going to be great if you need an entry level brake controller for your trailer. It has a manual slider that allows you to manually apply the brakes. This can be useful if you're sitting on a hill and you want to keep your trailer stalled, for testing purposes, and also to help bring your trailer back straight if it starts to sway going down the road.There's an output slider located here on top that varies the output intensity of your brake controller. You can also tell that based on the LED's illumination, it gets brighter with more output. On the left side towards the back, there's a sync slider. more

Today in our 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be installing Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller.With Tekonsha's plug-wiring adaptor.This is a proportional trailer brake controller that works up to four axles. What's really nice about it being proportional is that the harder you brake here in the vehicle, the inertia sensor inside the brake controller's gonna detect that and appropriately apply the brakes on your trailer behind you to insure that it's stopping the same as your vehicle.The output for the trailer brakes can be adjusted here. So if you need to fine-tune it for your specific trailer, you can do that.There's a boost button located on the top on the right. And this is for the various boost settings that are available. There's off, one, two, and three.Boost setting one is for when you have a trailer that's slightly less than the weight of your vehicle.Boost two is for when you have a trailer that's weighs roughly the same as your vehicle.And boost three is for when you have a trailer weighs more than your vehicle.That will help adjust that inertia sensor readout to help apply the brakes appropriate for that trailer weight.We begin our installation by plugging in our wiring adapter. You'll need to access the fuse panel and the lower left kick panel on the driver's side. more

This is a premium trailer brake controller. It's going to allow you to proportionally apply the brakes on your trailer depending on how quickly you're stopping here in the vehicle. It uses an inertia sensor inside so the harder you stop inside the inner sensor detects it and applies the brakes appropriately to match that on your trailer. Your output can be adjusted here on the left and you can select through various boost settings with the button on the top right. more
