I'm already a huge fan of the versatility of the SkyBox, this takes that versatility and adds some ease of use features to make it easier to put onto the roof as well as to load cargo in it. Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box and how it fits on our 2021 Volkswagen Atlas. So with the Atlas, we have a decent amount of storage in the back, but maybe you're looking to get some longer or maybe some messier items, something like a golf bag, skis and snowboards, or just anything that you don't wanna keep inside your vehicle, you'd rather get it up on the roof and protect it at the same time, this is a great way to do that, so let's check out how it works. The box is able to fit up to 16 feet of cubic storage, or the way that we phrase it, is up to three people's worth of stuff, and it's going to add on, at its highest point, 16 inches of height onto your overall system. That's the number you gonna wanna keep in mind as far as, "Can I sore this in my garage Do I need to take it off when I'm not using it" Or if there might be any clearance issues elsewhere. Also, the box itself weighs 48 pounds, so factoring that in and keeping account of your crossbars, your feet, and your roof rating, in the case of the Atlas, we found that that number is 200, so we wanna make sure that with the box, everything we're loading up inside, we wanna keep it under that number. more

A rooftop cargo box like this might be a good option for you if you're looking to store some longer items like a golf bag, skis or snowboards, things that generally won't fit in the back of your vehicle, you might not just wanna keep them there, and you wanna keep them protected from the elements while you're moving, this could be a good option for you. We have our rooftop cargo box centered on our crossbars here, because it is accessible from both sides. Both sides will have a locking system with this key here, all you basically do is turn the key to make sure that it's unlocked, then you push this button, and you can lift up the cargo box. It's nice that it stays up on its own, so you can have it up while you're loading and unloading without having to hold it up the whole time. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Rhino-Rack MasterFit rooftop box here on our 2021 Jeep Gladiator. Now a rooftop box on a Gladiator might seem like kind of odd to you but it actually does serve a pretty good purpose because you've got a smaller truck bed and especially with this one having a tonneau cover, you are limited on space in the back and if you're taking a big road trip or you maybe have some oversized items in the bed maybe you've got some bikes back there. It is going to be a little difficult to fit extra cargo inside the Jeep because it's not super big inside. The next best place to put that stuff is on the roof I think, especially if you've got certain items like skis and snowboards that you maybe want to keep separate from the other stuff, you don't want it banging around in the back of the bed with everything else, you want it up top protected. A rooftop box is gonna be great for that, great for luggage and this one especially is gonna have a lot of room. more

Rhino-Rack MasterFit Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2015 Ford Edge- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at how the Rhino-Rack MasterFit rooftop box, the extra large version that's 18 cubic feet fits on the 2015 Ford Edge. So if you're planning on going out for an adventure or a road trip, it's pretty helpful to have a place that's not just your trunk or your hatch to store your extra sports gear, luggage, skis, snowboards, things like that. So a rooftop box would be a great option for that. This creates more space above your roof but it's also sleek and even though this is the 18 and 1/2 cubic feet version it is a good fit for the Ford Edge. So this is a very close fit meaning you can open up the hatch but you are gonna have to make some adjustments so that it doesn't touch. So here, with our hatch fully open all the way there you can see the clearance between the box and the hatch is like about a millimeter of space in between. more

The INNO Wedge Plus is the rooftop box to get that done. Now it can't carry all types of cargo. Your Tahoe is a big car, so if you're gonna get a rooftop cargo box, you might as well get a big box to match. And, this is gonna be the Sky Box 21. Great for if you wanna carry around larger items like suitcases or big bags, but you also want the length for your longer skis and snowboards. But what if you need a little bit of extra space because of maybe large and bulky luggage Or you have extra long skis and you need a box to match That's where the Yakima SkyBox 21 might come in handy. So as awesome as this box is, and we'll talk about the different features, there are some fitment things with the 4Runner. So it is a longer box, so it will cover your moon roof here and you will not be able to completely open up the hatch. You can get it as close as you can get it and I'll show you how. more

Rhino-Rack MasterFit Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2015 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Today, we'll be taking a look at our Rhino-Rack Rooftop Cargo Box, this is the MasterFit, that's 18 1/2 cubic feet, and we'll see how it fits on our 2015 Toyota 4Runner. So you have your 4Runner and you're ready for adventure, but what if you need to carry around your other sports equipment, maybe you have extra long skis or snowboards or other gear that you would rather not have to store inside your vehicle That's where the MasterFit can come in handy. So compared to some of your other boxes, this is gonna be more sleek, more low-profile, more aerodynamic, but then, you also don't have as much height for your cargo capacity. Another thing with this is when you have your extra large boxes, you'll be concerned about hatch clearance, this one just barely makes the cut, but it works. So yes, I know with your 4Runner if you need to access your hatch, you can just lower the hatch window, but what if you need to open up the hatch door So with this box isolated as far forward as it can go on the track system, the crossbars are as far forward on the raised rails as they can get, and lifting this hatch, you can see it goes all the way up, and then at the very top, it just barely touches the box, but there's no weight on it. And if you're concerned about garage clearance, measuring from the top of our roof to the top of the roof box, it is gonna add 21 1/2 inches to the top. more

Today we're taking a look at the Yakima SkyBox 21 right here on a 2014 Toyota Prius V. So you have a lot of cargo capacity in your Prius V, but maybe you need more. That's where a rooftop cargo carrier, or rooftop box like this, can come in handy. This is a 21 cubic feet version. So, that's enough for maybe luggage for up to four people, your larger items. Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2021 Audi Q7- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the Thule Force XT L Rooftop Cargo Box on the 2021 Audi Q7. I know you have a lot of cargo space there in your Q7, but what if you wanna use your third row of seats You then lose out on that cargo space, or if you wanna carry items that are a little bulky, a little large like skis and snowboards, it's so much easier to put them onto your roof rather than finding a spot for them in your backseat, that's where rooftop cargo box like this can come in handy. This is the Thule Force XT L, you can actually get the slightly larger size which is the XL and still be able to open up your hatch and see your window, and we'll take those measurements here in this video. We're gonna get this onto our roof rack here. All right, go do it very carefully. Ideally, you can do this with two people or you should do this with two people, but I wanted to show you that I could do it all by myself too. more

Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe- Video
This is my car, 2001 Chevy Tahoe. And we're taking a look at the Thule Motion XT rooftop cargo box. I'm using a factory roof rack. If you have an aftermarket roof rack, it's still gonna fit. You just wanna measure and make sure that the width of your crossbars are gonna be no larger than three and a half inches. And then the height is gonna be no larger than one and 11/16 inches. more

The Thule Force XT L is on the smaller end of the Thule Force series, which means if fits really well on the Toyota Prius v. I like how I can still see through the window, I don't see the box at all, and I can open up my hatch with this box. So we'll talk about that, we'll take some measurements, talk about capacities, and what types of cargo you can carry with this box. more

Now a rooftop box is a great way to get some extra cargo space for your vehicle. Your Q7 does have that third row of seats, so if we are hauling passengers in there and having their stuff with us, we do have a much more limited amount of space in the back cargo area. So, the next best place in my mind is the roof to put that stuff because for a hitch, it does require some cutting and you might not want to do that to your vehicle. more
