Let's go ahead and take a look at the gap in the middle here which is for fifth wheels or goose necks so you don't have to lower a tailgate to hitch up to your trailer. Go ahead and get a rough measurement here. It looks like from the top of the tailgate down to the bottom is gonna be about 11 inches. The width across is gonna be about 15 inches. So that gives you plenty of room to maneuver your trailer into the bed of your truck. We can see how actually is made to match lines of a truck. more

Today on our 2008 Toyota Tundra Crew Max, we're going to show you part number VGT-70-100. This is a 100 series fifth wheel tailgate from Stromberg Carlson products. We'll go ahead and check it out to see how the overall look of the tailgate is. As you can see, it has a big opening here for the fifth wheel or your gooseneck trailer, so you don't have to lower your tailgate when you hook up to your trailer. Pretty simple and effective construction, square tube stock top and on the bottom on this row here. As you work your way down towards the bottom of the tailgate, you'll have round tube stock and some more square and angle iron on the bottom. It looks like it has a nice gloss finish to it, it's actually a powder coat finish. more

Access TrailSeal Full Truck Bed Protection Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500- Video
Today on 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, we're going to be installing the Access TrailSeal Full Bed Protection for Chevy and GMC pickup trucks in a new body style, part number 834532001453. To begin our installation, we're going to need to install the foam blocks that go up underneath the bed rail. We'll be installing a small block up here at the front, two small blocks here in the middle and one large foam block here at the rear. We're going to start up here on the front corner of the bed. You'll notice how there's a big hole underneath the bed right here on the side wall. This right here is how the foam block will be put in. It will be the same for all three of the small ones on this side. You'll start out by smashing it down. You'll need to work it into the opening. more

Today on our 2011 Ford F350 Super Duty we're going to be doing an installation of the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with open design. Part number VG-97-100. The first step in our installation is going to be to remove the Ford's factory tailgate. Just open it up, let it come on down and we're going to be able to gain access into the two points we need to disconnect our cables. We'll take a small screwdriver and as we lift up on the tailgate we'll move that metal out of the way to where it will slide on, up and over. Then we'll make our way around to the driver side and do that same thing. You will want to support the weight of the tailgate. If you don't it's going to come down and make contact with your bumper and it's going to rest on there, and that's not something that we want. more

Typically just lift the tailgate up just a little bit and pull this little tab out, and you can pull it apart. Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2013 Ford F-350 VG-97-4000- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford F-350 Crew Cab, we'll be installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000-series 5th-wheel louvered tailgate with lock, part number VG-97-4000. Because this particular vehicle has a backup camera, which is mounted in the tailgate, we'll need to unplug that. To unplug it, you just squeeze the tab, pull it apart, and in this particular case, as you can see here, there's an orange cap that'll go on top of the factory harness once we've unplugged the tailgate. To get the plug apart, we'll go ahead and squeeze the tab and gently pull apart. Now, we're ready to go ahead and remove the tailgate. To do this, we'll use a small flat-head screwdriver, to lift the tab up and release the safety cable or the cable holding the tailgate. Once we have that done, we'll open the tailgate just a little bit and lift up on the passenger side. When we do that, it'll lift the tailgate off of its tab. more

The first step is to go ahead and get the original tailgate out of the way, so we'll go ahead and open it up, and we'll lower it down. Typically, there's a small tab you pull out to release tension on the cable, and you can go ahead an release it. Okay, this is where I want an extra set of hands to help remove the tailgate. Tilt it up about 45-degree angle, and then pull up on it, and it comes out of the slot. Just push towards me. There you go. more

Today, on this 2007 Chevrolet Silverado new body extended cab, we're going to install part number VGM-07-4000. This is a Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th wheel louvered tailgate. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and remove our tailgate. We'll go ahead and take some tension off the cables and we'll go ahead and remove the cables. Typically, you pick up a corner here and then we can pull it out away from the truck. Okay, now installing your new tailgate pretty much reverses the order of removing the original tailgate. Now, the tailgate does come with some special bushings that will fit on the end where it slides in. However, in this truck, we didn't have to use any of them. more

Then well go ahead and clean up the inside edge of the tailgate, all the way around. Well go ahead and use the alcohol prep kits that come with the package. DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Lowering System Installation - 2013 Ford F-150- Video
Today in our 2013 Ford F150, well be installing the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System for pickup trucks part number DZ43200.Lets begin by showing you how the tailgate can just simply drop when you release it. To begin with, we need to adjust the nutsert tool so that theres approximately three quarters of an inch from the washer to the head of the bolt. If you need to move it, you simply loosen the nut and screw the bolt in or out to get to the proper length and then tighten down the nut. As you can see here, weve already got our three quarter inch length set properly.Next, were going to use an M5 Allen wrench, as well as a 10-millimeter wrench to install the nutsert in the opening in the tailgate pivot point. When installing this, were going to need to turn the nut 360 degrees nine times. To make things a little bit easier, were going to take our paint marker and mark one side of the nut so that we can keep count as were turning the nut in tighter. more

Today on our 2005 GMC Sierra, we will be installing the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th wheel tailgate with open design, and that's part number VGM-99-100. We will begin our installation with the tailgate down, and then raise it up slightly so we can use a flathead screwdriver to pry the tab for the side cable away, and detach the cable from the truck. We will do this on both sides. On the passenger side, we can then lift the tailgate out of it's hinge, and with an extra set of hands completely remove our tailgate. Next, we'll set the new tailgate into place. Our Stromberg Carlson tailgate comes with latches that will need to be installed on both passenger and driver side. more

Today on this 2004 Ford Pickup well be installing the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Fifth Wheel Tailgate, part number vg-97-100. To begin our install well first need to remove the older manufacturers tailgate. To do this well open it up and bring it down three-quarters of the way leaving slack in the cables. Then we can go ahead and remove the cables. Moving over to the drivers side well need to pry back the safety clip first, then slide the connection point end into the oblong hole and then remove it from the post. Now well go ahead and remove the tailgate. more

Today on our 2006 Ford F150, well be test fitting the Stromberg Carlson 100 series fifth wheel tailgate with open design, part number VG-04-100.Now to begin our test fit, we will first start off by removing our manufacturers tailgate. Well open up the tailgate and lay it down flat. Well then move to the support straps attached to the truck bed, lift up the silver plate to allow us to bring the strap up off of the hook. We will then repeat these steps for the other side. Note that you do need to keep a hold on the tailgate as once both straps have been removed, the tailgate will not have any support.Well then put the tailgate in a 45 degree angle and lift up on the passenger side of the tailgate. Once the passenger side is free, we can then slide the tailgate to the right and allow the drivers side of the tailgate to pop out.Now with the new hardware installed on the fifth wheel tailgate, well start off by inserting the rubber bushing on the drivers side of the truck bed. more

Today on our 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty we'll be installing the DeeZee Tail Gate Assist, part number DZ43203. Our first step will be opening the tail gate. Next we'll go ahead and prepare and install the nutsert. Using the nutsert and nutsert tool we'll need to set the depth. There'll be 3/4 of an inch from the face of the washer at the end of the nutsert tool. Then well take the tailgate and slide it over that bushing and then we can go ahead and install the tailgate just like any other tailgate. Well start off by sliding the tailgate into the hinge onto the drives side, then well go over to the passengers side, line up the hinge, put the tailgate at about a 45 degree angle and slide it into place. We will turn the tailgate to about a 45 degree angle so that we can slide the hinge on the passenger side off. To fit up our Stromberg tailgate, again we will hold it at about a 45 degree angle and we will slip the driver side over the hinge post first. As we close the tailgate, we want to pull open the latches, push the tailgate into position and release the latches so they will hold the tailgate in place. more

We have two cables, a set of keys for the tailgate, a plastic insert that will go with the rubber tailgate insert, two bolts, four wood screws, four machine screws, and four clips for the machine screws. There are also two side covers. And with that, we'll go ahead and start our installation. more
