Fit of Tow Ready Trailer Wiring Harness # 118344 on 2001 Ford Focus zx3
Question:
I have a 2001 Ford Focus zx3. When I put the trim in it says it wont fit but the plug looks the same as the one in my car. This is kind of a dumb question but I just wanted to double check before I start cutting wires.

According to Tow Ready, the # 118344 trailer wiring harness you referred to is a fit for the 2001 Ford Focus wagon, but not the hatchback or the sedan. For the hatchback, the # 18252 is recommended. The wiring harness is pretty simple to install. It will tap into the wiring harnesses right behind the taillight assemblies. I've linked you to an install video that will walk you through the process.
For a 4 door sedan model, the # 119178KIT is recommended. I've linked you to an install video showing the harness being installed on a Crown Victoria. The install on your Focus will be pretty similar. The wires you tap into might be different colors, but the video will show how to use the tester included with the kit to find the correct circuits to tap into.
