Can Oil be Used to Lubricate Erickson Push Button Retractable Ratchet Tie Downs # EM34423
Question:
I read someones comments about putting some oil s to make the retraction work smoother and longer. Is this something you would advise and where would the s of oil be added. Now that Ive used these every day, even with my arthritis pretty severe in the hands they are a very good product far exceeding the original Cargo Buckle brand tie downs that came with my wheelchair lift. I should have addded cudos to you all for your exceptional customer service. Thank you.

My contact at Erickson Manufacturing advised that a lubricant can be used on their Push Button Retractable Ratchet Tie Downs # EM34423 to help their retraction mechanism pull the strap back on to the spool.
You will want to use a silicone-based lubricant (not grease, household oil or spray-on lubricants) in the gear mechanism. Erickson suggests going easy on the application (not too much at one time) until you see the results. You can find this silicone lubricant at a local hardware store.
Please refer to the linked photo on which I have indicated the lubrication points with arrows.
