Hitch, Drawbar, Hitch Ball, and Safety Chains Needed to Tow a Trailer
Question:
i have a 2001 Kia Sportage. I need to tow a trailer with ~ 1500lb of stuff. I already have a 1-1/4" hitch and need the recommended wiring kit. So I've got that down, but what else do i need? a ball thingie, and a bar/clipwhat is that? Can you give me part # of what else i need to pretty much tow a trailer. Also where is your warehouse located?

For your 2001 Kia Sportage, in addition to hitch, and wiring # HM43915, you will need a ball mount and a ball for the coupler on the trailer. You will also need safety chains unless the trailer comes with them.
For a 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch opening, like your Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, use Class II Drawbar, # 36051. With this ball mount, use Hitch Ball, # 19256. To secure and lock the drawbar in place, use the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, # e98879.
For safety chains, I would go with a couple of 35 inch Long Safety Chain with Clevis Slip Hook, # 1483-535-04.
Make sure the coupler on the trailer is compatible with a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball. If you are not sure what ball size the coupler requires, you can go with the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set, # 901B. This set will fit the drawbar and comes with a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball and a 2 inch diameter ball.
