I would recommend the Tekonsha P2 Brake Controller, item # 90885, because it is easy to set up and easy to use. It would work well with your 2009 Chevrolet Pickup, Silverado.
If you do not have a 7-Way connection at the rear of the truck you can use the Twist-in, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector for Chevy and GMC Vehicles - Vehicle End, item # PK11916, to complete the wiring on your truck. There is a connection that will need to be made under the hood to complete your installation (see video). You will also need to make a connection for 12 volt power to the 7-Way connector if it is needed. We have instructions for you on our Brake Controller Installation on a 2008 GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado page (see link).
