If you're wanting to tow a trailer equipped with electric brakes using your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe (and that's what it sounds like), you'll first need to install a 4-pole trailer connector. If your Santa Fe has the factory tow package, use part # C56332. Or, for vehicles without the tow package, use # C56184. Not sure if you have the tow package or not.
You'll then need to choose a brake controller. A proportional controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885 would be an excellent choice. A proportional controller can sense how quickly the tow vehicle is braking, and will deliver just enough power to the trailer brakes so that the vehicle and the trailer brake at the same rate. This makes for safe, reliable and predictable braking. Since neither the vehicle nor the trailer brakes are doing all the work, brake life will be extended as well.
To install the controller, you'll need our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything needed to install a controller, including the adapter to convert the 4-pole you've just installed to a 7-way trailer connector. The kit also includes all needed wire, circuit breakers and hardware.
I'll link you to some articles you might find helpful, as well as to install instructions for the kit and some install videos that you should find helpful.
