Recommended Trunk Mount Bike Rack for 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Question:
Im going to be purchasing a 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek and want to find the least expensive, but solid option for transporting a bike. I dont see how this will fit the crosstrek given its a 5 door hatchback vehicle. Am I wrong?

The Thule Passage 2 Bike Trunk Mount Carrier, part # TH910XT is indeed a fit for your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek. Just to be certain, I confirmed it with my Thule representative.
There are less expensive trunk mount racks available, but they wouldn't hold your bikes as securely or provide the same level of protection to the vehicle. Less expensive racks don't usually offer the sturdy rubber straps or the anti-sway cradles that keep the bikes from swaying back and forth during transport and possibly hitting into each other or the rear of the vehicle. The Passage provides both these features. You should avoid using the liftgate and the rear wiper when the rack is in place.
If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, which provides a secondary attachment point for the bike rack. This allows the bike to be carried level, which maximizes ground clearance.
