Fit of Curt Trailer Hitches # 11164 and # C11180 on 2005.5 Audi A4 Avant
Question:
I have a 2005.5 audi a4 2.0T avant. Since it is the 2005.5 and not 2005 it is the same body style as the 2007 and 2008 audi a4 2.0t avant. Why is it that part number 11164 is recommended for my car versus part number 11180 when my car is the same as the 2007 and 2008 models?

Although the exterior body components of the 2005.5 and later model years of the Audi A4 Avant may be similar, or even the same, the frame structures are not. If you compare the mounting flanges for these two hitches, parts # 11164 and # C11180, you will note that the mounting points for hitch # C11180 are vertical (meaning the bolts will be oriented in an up-down direction) while the hardware for hitch # 11164 installs to the spare tire well in a horizontal direction.
Both of these light-duty Class I hitches offer the same 200-lb tongue weight capacity and 2000-lb gross trailer weight rating, and both install with included hardware. I have linked two helpful articles for you concerning hitch installation.
