Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring that the Turn Signals Activate with Blinkers
Question:
Expert responded to my first question stating I need a trailer converter to change the trailer wiring on the trailer. Vehicle to vehicle taillight converter. Is this in addition to the installed 56146 kit? Also the traier has led tail and turn signal lights. Product data on the vehicle to vehicle converter says will not work with led lights? I need help and guidance on what to do and how to do it. Thank you,

The issue you are experiencing is due to the fact that your trailer has separate trailer wiring circuits, meaning the turn signals and the brake lights are on separate bulbs and the trailer wiring harness # C56496 you installed is designed to operate combined trailer taillights, meaning the turn signals and brake lights are on the same bulb.
What you are going to need to do is install the taillight signal converter part # 118158 on the wiring of your trailer. Once installed the red wire of the converter will run to your brake lights on the output side and the yellow wire will run to the left turn signals and the green will run to the right.
Check out the picture I attached to see how it will wire up.
