Adapter Recommendation to Install Thule Big Mouth Roof Mounted Bike Rack on Aero Bars

Question:

Hi, i´d ñike to know if the Thule Big Mouth comes to be mounted in non square bars. The pictures just show for Square bars. Is there any change can be done to adjust in aerodynamic bars type? Thanks for your attention.

There is a way to install the Thule Big Mouth Roof Mounted Bike Rack that you referenced on aero style bars like what you have.

To do this you will need the Thule XADAPT2 AeroBlade and Xsporter Load Bar Adapter # Xadapt2 and you would be good to go.

You can also purchase the Thule ProRide, part # TH598004, which includes the XAdapt2 parts. It also includes a number of updated features and an easier to manage frame clamp.

Hi - I have oval shaped crossbars that the L-clamps for from the Thule Big Mouth Roof Mounted Bike Rack wont fit, from the instructions on this adapter it seems there needs to be a rail in the crossbar for it to work, which my stock 2015 Toyota Sienna crossbars does not have. Is there a larger L clamp I can purchase or is there anything else you recommend? Thanks in advance!

If the factory bars on your Sienna don't feature an integrated channel, the only way to mount the Thule Big Mouth to the roof would be with the Ride-On Adapter # TH532. This will simply attach to the factory bars to provide square bars to which the carrier can mount.

Hi there, I just want to confirm that aerodynamic bars are referring to the oval-shaped ones, about 3" wide. I have a factory roof rack on my 2009 Toyota Matrix, which I believe fall under this description. Please confirm when you get a chance. Thank you!

You got it! The oval shaped factory bars on your Matrix are indeed the "aerodynamic" style that Jameson is referring to.
