Connecting Red Brake Controller Wire to Cold Side of Brake Switch on a 1989 Chevy C/K Series Truck
Question:
trying to connect to cold side of brake switch, but only found hot and the other wire is also hot until brake is depress, then it is cold. Where can I find the cold wire?

It is possible that the wire you need on the brake switch is a white wire on your 1989 Chevy truck. But the only way to know for sure is to test all of the brake switch wires. If you are unable to find the correct wire at the brake switch then it might be possible to use the CHMSL fuse and a fuse tap. This would only work if the CHMSL fuse is just for the center high mount stop lamp. If it is the fuse for other functions as well then it would not work.
Other than the brake switch and CHMSL fuse, any dedicated brake light only circuit will work.
