Dimensions of Fascia Trimming to Install Curt Trailer Hitch on 2005 Audi A8
Question:
Looks like the C11199 receiver assembly bolts up to my car and the C56175 wiring adapter will splice into the OEM wiring, but I am curious about three things: 1 How large is the fascia/bumper cutout, and where is it located? 2 Does the receiver assembly bolt up to the frame, or the trunk pan as shown in some of your videos? 3 Do you provide instructions for reprogramming the computer to active the trailer mode functions engine cooling logic, ride height control, etc. Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the receiver and wiring spec sheet and installation instructions appropriate for my 2005 Audi A8. Im going to have my bumper reworked due to a minor rear-end collision and it would be a great opportunity to install a trailer hitch when the bumper is being overhauled. Thanks PS: Have I ed the most appropriate receiver and wiring kit for my car, or would you recommend another combination of parts?

The Curt trailer hitch, # C11199, is the only trailer hitch we list as a confirmed fit for your 2005 Audi A8. Some minor fascia trimming is required to install the Curt hitch on your Audi. You will need to trim 1.550 inches into the bumper cover trim. The receiver width measures 3.750 inches, so that will be the width of the cut. See the diagram I have included which shows the dimensions of the cut. The cutout will be located at the center of the bumper cover.
The trailer hitch will bolt onto the bumper beam using three bolts which bolt into a bumper bracket.
I am including the installation instructions for the Curt hitch for you to check out. We don't list a T-One wiring harness option for you. You will have to go through your Audi dealer to get the OEM wiring harness and the spec sheet.
