For your 2009 Ford Edge, if it is NOT a Sport model then you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75992. But if it is a Sport model use # 75686. These are both Class III trailer hitches with 2 inch receivers rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight.
To complete your towing set up I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It includes 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For trailer wiring use # 118551.
If your trailer has a 5-Way flat trailer connector (typically found on boat trailers that have a surge brake coupler and use an electric reverse lockout) then you will need a 4- to 5-Way adapter, # 20036. The 4-Way will plug into the adapter and there is an additional lead to attach to the reverse light circuit on your 2009 Ford Edge.
