Although any of the controllers we offer would work fine for your needs, I would recommend a proportional style brake controller. Proportional controllers feature an internal sensor that can determine how quickly and at what intensity the tow vehicle is braking. It will then send the appropriate amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so that the trailer and tow vehicle stop at the same rate. This is beneficial because with both vehicles stopping at the same rate, the braking action is more predictable. Having the vehicle and trailer braking in tandem will also cause less wear and tear on the braking systems.
Another benefit of the proportional brake controllers is the fact that they can determine the difference between a quick tap on the pedal and a full out panic stop, where the older time delayed controllers will always send the same predetermined amount of voltage to the brakes regardless of how insistent the braking input is.
I would recommend the Tekonsha P2, part # 90885. It is a great controller and would work great for you.
