How to Gain Ground Clearance for a Thule Bike Rack Installed in a 1-1/4 inch Hitch
Question:
I have a Nissan Altima, 2012, on which I had a Uhaul 1inch hitch installed for a Thule bike rack. I now need an adapter to raise the rack 2inch higher so it will not hit the street when I am pulling in and out of the driveway. Would the HE18 be appropriate? Thank you.

I have a potential solution for you, but it will require that your Thule bike rack be also compatible with 2 inch hitches. It will also cut the capacity of your hitch in half so you will need to verify that the weight of your rack and bikes is less than half of the weight of the tongue weight capacity of your hitch.
If all of that checks out the Brophy Hitch Adapter part # HT5R would give you a 5 inch rise for your bike rack which would give you additional ground clearance. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out as well.
