Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with Curt Gooseneck Trailer Hitch in a 2003 Ford F-250 Short Bed
Question:
03 F-250 with 6 1/2 ft bed with curt hide a ball. Looking for the best option to pull a fifth wheel trailer safely with my current gooseneck setup. Not sure if a adapter or slider fifth wheel hitch is needed. I have looked at the goose boxes and like the concept but am unsure if I have the clearence I need to use one of these if I get in a tight spot. What is the reccomended setup for my current situation?

If your Curt gooseneck trailer hitch is a Double-Lock, Flip and Store gooseneck hitch (C-60 and C-600 series) with the round hole for the ball then you can use the X5 adapter # C16210 and a slider hitch which you will need for a short bed truck. You can use any slider hitch that fits in industry standard rails with the adapter.
For a 16K hitch I recommend the Curt E16 hitch # 16516. For a 20K you can use Curt A20 hitch # C16541. Both of these hitches offer 12 inches of travel to help you make those tight turns.
None of the other adapters offer as much offset as the above set up.
