Ply Rating of Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10501
Question:
What is/are AM10501 tire plys sidewall and tread? Lost two fully pressurized E of same size which are 2 steel + 2 poly tread and 2 poly sidewall. Failures were different, one tread came off and it was like it was cut from bead to bead and second one was sidewall blowout. Never went above 70mph. Tires 3 years old.

The Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire, # AM10501, has a 12 ply rating and is rated for 3,960 pounds at 95 psi. This tire has a section width of 9.25 inches and the height of the sidewall from rim to tread is 7.86 inches.
A trailer tire can fail for several reasons including overloading, heat build-up due to under-inflation, and exposure to the elements causing dry rot. Although I can not determine the reason behind why the other trailer tires failed, going with a tire that has a higher ply rating and weight capacity could reduce the risk of this happening again.
Please keep in mind that the trailer tires we carry, unless otherwise indicated, have a 65 mile per hour speed rating. Faster speeds can build up more heat faster and can lead to premature wear and failure.
I have attached a couple articles and a video for you to check out.
