Replacing Safety Chains on 18K Goose Neck Trailer
Question:
Towing a 16-18k gooseneck trailer in California, need to replaced a broken safety chain. Current broken chain is attached to the trailer via a closed welded hook/loop on the trailer, I will have to cut it off. I do not have access to a welder to cut and install a new set of chains. Two questions - 1 what size/spec/rating of chain is recommended for an 18k gvwr gooseneck trailer and 2 is there a recommended way to attach the new chains to the trailer without cutting and rewelding them back on? Thanks

If you do not have access to a welder to remove the old chain and install a new one you might use the Andersen Ultimate Safety Chains # RM3230 that you referenced. These can install without welding since they include two clevis D-ring connectors. These are rated for 24,000-lbs. The clevis hardware will allow you to attach them, without welding, to the existing loops.
