There are several possible reasons for tires to wear that quickly. A bent or damaged axle, damaged or worn suspension components (like leaf springs, shackle straps or equalizers), an overloaded trailer or a tire being loaded above and beyond its load rating, improper inflation and exceeding the speed rating of the tire can all cause the premature tire wear you mentioned.
Worn/damaged suspension, bent axles, improper inflation and overloading the tire can cause the tire tread to contact the pavement unevenly, which can cause uneven wear. Improper inflation, overloading the tire, and exceeding the speed rating can cause heat build-up in the tire. Excessive heat is the number one enemy of tires.
Check your suspension components and repair or replace as necessary. An axle should have a slight bow in it, with the center of the axle being slightly taller than the hubs. Any other bending means a damaged axle that should be replaced. Ensure that your tires carry the proper load rating for the weight of the trailer and cargo. Keep your tires fully inflated at the maximum pressure listed on the tire sidewall. Most trailer tires are rated for 65 mph, be sure to observe the speed rating.
Since radial tires tend to run cooler, you might consider using radials as replacements. If you'd care to reply with the tire size and load rating of your current tires, I'd be happy to make a recommendation for replacement tires.
