What advantages does this kit give over the factory four pin harness?

This system draws power directly from the battery which means it will support more lights on the trailer and it since it is using a separate power source it will not damage the vehicle light circuits in case of a short or excessive power draw.
If you are using a trailer with more than just two tail lights and two side markers, this would probably be a good upgrade. If you are towing a small boat or personal watercraft, you may also want to use something like this as a short is more likely with marine trailers.
