Recommended Trunk-Mount 3-Bike Carrier For 2006 Mazda 5 With Spoiler
Question:
I have a 2006 Mazda5. Does a Thule Archway style rack that needs to have straps hook at the top of the mini-spoiler work for this car? I saw some speculation online that this spoiler is plastic or fibreglass and could break with the weight of bikes on it. Thanks!

For your 2006 Mazda 5 with the small spoiler at the top of the hatch, the straps on the Thule Archway, part # TH910XT would rest against the spoiler. Having straps resting on the spoiler could possibly cause damage.
I recommend the Hollywood Racks Bike Carrier, part # HRF2-3. This carrier is designed for vehicles with spoilers like your Mazda has. The anti-sway cradles help secure the bikes to the rack and help prevent bike-to-bike contact. I have attached a link to a product review video for this rack you can check out.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the handlebar stem and the seat post and allow the bike to be more level in the carrier while providing more ground clearance.
