Can 4 Bikes be Carried on the Roof of a 2014 Toyota Prius V

Question:

Can 4, 26bikes fit alternating front to back maybe? on a roof rack system of a Prius V? Is it wide enough or would the bars hang over the side/width of the car?

It is not likely that you will be able to get all 4 bikes on the roof of your 2014 Toyota Prius V, even if you alternate the directions. There is also the possibility that the combined weight of the bikes and carriers they are on would exceed the roof capacity (consult the vehicle owners manual or Toyota for the roof capacity).

Three bikes are likely not going to be a problem though you may need to alternate directions.

What I recommend is to put 2 bikes on the roof and 2 bikes on a trunk mount bike rack # HRF2. This rack is designed specifically to fit vehicles that have spoilers or that top trim piece at the top of the rear hatch. I have linked a video that shows how the rack works.

If you go this route and if you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.

I have also included a link to the roof rack main page for your Prius V if you do not already have a roof rack.
