Troubleshooting a Prodigy P2 Brake Controller on a 2008 GMC Sierra
Question:
P2 Controller, 2008 GMC Sierra My brake controller is constantly showing an output of power to the brakes, with and without a trailer connected. If you kick the trucks brake pedal it will work properly for a very limited time or until you press the brake pedal again. A local shop thought it was the controller and replaced it. It performed the same way. I then took it to the dealer who soldered the wires to eliminate wiring issues. It worked for a day... Could it be the truck? Could it be the controller?etc? Whats your opinion?

Since you have already had the brake controller replaced and the wires have been soldered, I recommend checking your 7 way connector at the back of your 2008 GMC Sierra. You will want to make sure that it is free of moisture and corrosion. If the connector is showing signs of wear, I suggest replacing it with the Pollak 7 Pole Trailer Connector, # PK11916.
I would also check the wiring for your 7 way connector to make sure that none of the wires have been pinched, damaged, or have come loose.
