Troubleshooting a Curt Venturer Brake Controller on 2008 GMC Sierra with Towing Package

Question:

I have a Curt Venturer brake controller. If I connect the light blue wire with red wire the brakes are on all the time on the trailer. Where does the red wire need to connect?

I recommend checking to see if you also have an orange wire under the dash of your 2008 GMC Sierra. If there is an orange under there, try connecting the red wire from the Curt Venturer Brake Controller, # C74VV, to that wire. I am attaching a chart that shows the other connections for the controller. I would double check that each connection is correct and secure.

If you are still having problems, I would use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993, to test the light blue wire on the truck. The light blue wire should only have power when the brake pedal is pressed. If the light blue wire has constant power, there is something wrong with the vehicle's wiring and I suggest taking the Sierra to a GM dealer so they can take a look at it.

I am attaching an article that takes you step by step through the brake controller installation process for the 2007 through 2013 GMC Sierra that may also be helpful.
