Hitch And 4-Bike Carrier Recommendation For 2007 Acura RDX

Question:

Your site is great, and I think its almost information overkill. I read everything pertaining to my 2007 Acura RDX. Im looking for the best trailer hitch and 4 Bike rack solution. Id like to stay around 400-450. Can you please recommend what you know works, and I wont have any issues? Id also want to make sure the Bike rack can tilt forward to access the rear tailgate. Thank you

For your 2007 Acura RDX, we have a few hitches you can choose from. Since you said you wish to carry 4 bikes on a carrier, you will want a Class lll hitch for certain. From my research I found your RDX has a towing capacity of 1500 lbs, which means your tongue weight capacity is about 150 lbs. We need to use that figure when considering carriers and the bikes combined weight.

The hitch I recommend is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13536. This is a Class lll hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening.

One of the most popular 4-bike carriers we offer is the Thule Hitch Post Pro, part # TH934XTR. This carrier holds bikes at 3 points to help prevent sway and bike-to-bike contact. This carrier also tilts when unloaded to allow access to the rear of your RDX. This carrier comes with a 1-1/4 inch shank, but with the included adapter sleeve will fit a 2 inch hitch. This hitch does weigh 40 lbs. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch you can check out.

If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes, I recommend using an adapter bar like part # TH982XT. This adapter bar attaches between the handlebar stem and the seat post and allows you to carry the bikes more evenly while providing more ground clearance.
