Recommended Brake Controller Installation Location for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I just ordered a P2 controller and it should be here tomorrow. I have read a few things about specific mounting locations due to the knee airbags but have found no real answers. Anyway I hope to install this tomorrow or over the weekend. Does anyone has suggestions on where this should go to avoid the airbags? Any help is much appreciated, I dont want to put in in the center console as I like this location for cell phone and wallets.

Due to the airbags, the area to the right of the steering column on the lower slope of the dash which is our usual recommendation isn't very suitable. This leaves the center console area or the area to the left of the steering column. The area between the hood release and the gas filler door release might work. Before drilling into the dash, be sure there isn't anything directly behind the surface that you're drilling into.
There isn't any one 'correct' place where the controller needs to be installed. As long is the controller is parallel to the direction of travel and level in a side to side orientation as shown in the installation instructions, all will work just fine. I have seen them mounted to the top of the dashboard as well.
I spoke to my Tekonsha representative, and unfortunately, he wasn't able to recommend any specifics.
